Smile 50 Ideas for Old-Fashioned Summer Fun

I LOVE Homesteadmamma's blog and on it is a link for Summer Unschool. The school year is SO busy and so many of my son's friends have a summer PACKED with "structured" summer camps. While my son will go to daycare "summer" camp 2 days a week while I work and a couple of "structured" Cub Scout activities, I REALLY want him to take advantage of the summers I experienced while growing up so I signed up for the Summer Unschool. I ALSO found and thought I would share this...ENJOY!!!! Take care and God bless.

~This is just the list I needed! I made my own list last month with about half of these things on it and I wanted more ideas. Especially ideas that would appeal to a boy since I can't exactly draw from my own childhood experiences for those! ;-) ~

You know, I saw this so much in my neighborhood. Moms had the kids scheduled from the day they were off school till the day they went back-----i.e. "I don't want to have to deal with my own kids." I never signed mine up for much of anything except their sports, which were only an hour or two a week.

I LOVED having my kids home with me. We reconnected----and they reconnected with each other. And we found SOOOO many thihngs to do, cause the kids in the neighborhood were all gone to their scheduled activities!

We went to parks and played, I took them to play with their cousins at my sisters' houses, since they didn't see much of them during the school year. We met other kids and fams for picnics and games. We played baseball or t-ball, soccer, kickball, tag, etc. Then we would have down-time inside with playdough or coloring books and then maybe a nap for some. (mom)

Water games---just plain old hose-spraying was fun. A sprinkler. I finally got a slip and slide one year.
