Default New to Frugal Village Not New to Frugalness

How did you hear about frugal village? Searched Google for Frugal Forums, and you all were the first one to come up. I lurked for a day, found it interesting and joined.

What interests you here? Always like to have good tips and others with like minded ideas; was on Totally Frugal forums, but they have been slammed with spammers. Your design and format are similar to theirs, but it looks like you do not have the spam.

What will you contribute? I have been frugal for a long time, I live in an RV and follow the principles of "Your Money or Your Life"; following voluntary simplicity.

Do you know any other members here? No

How many kids? Ages? No Kids

Tell us about yourself. I would suggest checking out our website: Laura-n-Sasha.com to see more about us, but in a nutshell: we sold our house and everything in it in May of 2007, after taking a sabbatical vacation in September & October 2006.

We found that we did not want to live the suburbia lifestyle after we took that trip, so we put our house on the market in December 2008, listed with a fee only Realtor (to get it in the MLS) and sold the house myself. It took 3 months to sell, and 2 months to get it cleaned out.

We moved into our RV, my DH commuted to work while I volunteered at a National Park, gaining excellent experience that would help me get a job with the National Park Service. We are right now, living in a National Park paying very low rent, while I work for the National Park Service as a Park Ranger and my DH is now retired.

Do you own any pets? No - just stuffed animals - the RV is small.

Occupation? Park Ranger - a lifelong dream

Married or single? Married for 12 years

Interests and hobbies? Outdoor hobbies: walking or hiking, kayaking, swimming, photography, traveling; indoor hobbies: reading, surfing internet/reading forums, working on our website.

I look forward to meeting new people on this forum.

well it took a while to get to the dream job, but that is what happens when you find it. Most things do not come easy. But life is good.

What does the challenge EF mean?

Hi and welcome from NE Ohio. Wow it sounds like you really do have the dream job. Happy to have you join us.

P.S. the challenge "EF" is Emergency Fund. You will find we have lots of challenges. If you have one for yourself just add it to your siggy. Some post a thread and some just put it in their siggy.

    Hi Mary,
I applied to over 70 different jobs, got offers from about 10 and chose Cape Hatteras National Seashore in North Carolina.
Those with degrees especially in science are most welcome, but those with other degrees are also good too.

The process takes between 3 and 6 months, and there are no "benefits" - except: I live in a National Park for very little money, I live in a resort area all season while most only get a week of time here. I'm at the beach, I do not need a gym because I walk everywhere, I am getting healthier by the day because I work, therefore I exercise, I am meeting great people and expanding my mind everyday. Who needs the normal benefits when you have these great things?

And you said there are no benefits. The whole thing sounds like benefits to me. Good for you and your great job with all the, shall I say, "perks".

I Agree, the Perks are great! Who needs benefits when the perks are so good?
