It was a LONG weekend!

Man am I glad the holiday weekend is over! We were so busy at work that there was hardly time to run out to the bathroom! The campers started piling in on me last Sunday, not with their campers but just to rent sites. Sunday and Monday were so busy and I'm the only attendant there those two days. By the time I left work last Monday we only had 6 electric sites left, which is unheard of!

I did the 1pm to 9pm shift Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The day shift girl is busy, but that evening shift is just slammed with people wanting ice and firewood, tourists with questions, etc. Then Sunday I was the only one there again with all the campers, tourists, etc. Yesterday was a slow day which is good because I was so tired I felt like I took an entire bottle of Benadryl before I went to work LOL. The rain held off until about 5 yesterday evening when it finally opened up and poured!

I am really tired this morning and of course my two days off won't really be "days off". I have laundry, dishes, and housework to do and errands to run.

Ugh, sounds like you had a busy weekend! Although, I have to say that you've "enlightened" me. Never before have I thought about the employees at the campgrounds when we had out to camp on a holiday weekend. It never occurred to me how rough their holiday weekend is! So thank you for that. I'm going to have to keep it in the back of my brain to do something nice for them the next time we go. Maybe take them cookies or goodies of some sort!

You know what I think is the nicest thing to do for them? I love it when people make an extra effort to let us know that we do a good job! I've had people make a trip into the bathrooms as I'm cleaning just to tell me what a great job we do of keeping them clean. Or yesterday an eldery gentleman who has been camping with his wife came into my office to thank me for making their week so pleasant and he made sure to tell my boss that us girls had really been nice, etc. Sometimes on a crazy weekend(and all of mine are crazy from Memorial Day until the middle of Sept. LOL) just a compliment makes my day, especially if you let my boss know because he does NOT believe in giving compliments to employees LOL! I've also had campers write letters or emails to the main office of state parks telling them how clean our restrooms are, etc. and those are always forwarded to my boss!

We even had someone email last year to tell the main office that the men in our park sit around and do nothing and if it wasn't for us girls the park would fall apart LOL! The boss did NOT like that, even though it's true!

Remember to be patient with the employees and let them know they do a good job and PLEASE supervise your kids in the bathrooms!
