new & improved tag sale tips
sara asked me to share with you some tag sale (garage sale, yard sale etc.) tips from a new website where you can post virtual sales (free up to a certain amount) or list your own actual sale and of course, haggle and shop. Tagsellit gathered from its users some tips that will make your sale stand out without costing you any more during these recessionary times.
For sellers: make use of appealing descriptions like "vintage" or "as seen on" (insert name of popular tv show or movie) today's shoppers are savvier than ever.
For sellers: Offer free delivery within a 15 mile radius if the item is purchased at the price listed that day.
For buyers: Come prepared to package & transport your items safely, the last thing sellers are thinking is bubble wrap and newspaper, if you come prepared you won’t have to worry about your items such as china or crystal being damaged. Just have a tote bag with some tissue paper or small bubble wrap to carry with you for those special items.
For sellers: Your home owner’s insurance policy should cover you in the event a shopper falls or is injured while at your sale, be sure to consult your insurance agent if you’re having a huge sale and expecting a crowd. Common sense should get you through the day without a scratch so keep foot traffic areas open, clutter free and be sure you have a team of helpers lined up to assist you at your sale.
For sellers: You must put a price label on your items, and a string-tag is preferable over a sticker. This gives both you and the buyers a starting point for negotiations. Don’t simply color code items either.
Let the haggling begin!
