Smile So embarassed by the amount spent on my B-day present But I love it!

My mom gave me a wonderful birthday present yesterday for my birthday. And it was a great day all around.

She always wants hints (be told what to buy) for my birthday. This year she picked one out by herself. A Vacuum! What a great surprise.

A few months ago my mom was helping with some vacuuming. My old vacuum isn't very powerful, and vacuuming is very frustrating. It was also a canister vac that you have to carry so the kids couldn't help with vacuuming much. Hubby said a few years ago that, if I wanted a fancy powerful one I would need to go back to work (He didn't mean this badly but that would be the only way we could afford a nice one since we downsized, downshifted)

So I guess after vacuuming with my vacuum Mom decided I needed a nice one. So she bought for my birthday a Dyson animal vacuum!

I found out how much it cost and I'm embarrassed she spent that much but I have to admit the vacuum is so much nicer then my old one. The Dyson sucks, and in a good way. Even though I had just vacuumed the day before I pulled up so much animal hair (shedding Lab) and fine dust from the carpets. Hubby was embarrassed by this I don't think he realized that the old vacuum really didn't suck up well. And one of the best pluses is that it is an upright and light so the children can actually use it. They were able to vacuum their own rooms yesterday. And the best plus is my carpets and rugs ( and hard wood floors) look so much better that I'm not desiring new ones as much.

Celebration activities for my day: The kids gave me their cards just as soon as I was up. My youngest didn't even want to wait until I got out of the shower. needless to say it was a quick shower. My mom came over in the morning with a store bought cake (she doesn't bake) so it tasted like childhood. We took the children to the free children's lunchtime concert. My mom bought us lunch to eat at the concert. After the concert she bought us snow cones (Would you believe this was my first time to have a professional snow cone? They were yummy and just like snow not chunks of ice, Yummy) Then she ordered pizza for delivery for supper. The kids made homemade lemonade to go with it. Then we had cake and opened the vacuum. Then we vacuumed.LOL

    It was a great day!

Hubby feels bad and that he might be in the dog house. I tried to reassure him that he is not.

I am so jealous! I've always wanted a Dyson but the one I looked at was $699! DH bought me a temporary canister vac for $49.99 and I'm happy with it so far. I'm glad you really love yours.

Happy Birthday and congrats! I've had my Dyson for a couple years now and I'm still in love with it. We had debated getting one for about a year. We both loved how awesome they were and were horrified by the price. Thanks to an unexpected bonus from my husband's work, we bit the bullet and bought it. And with a 5 year old and a 10 month old, yes, I vacuum every day. Of course now with the Dyson, the carpet actually looks clean when I'm done, unlike the string of old and busted vacs I had.
