Black eye and twisted knee
I took my dog out and she chased a cat, well she pulled and drug me at least 8 feet across the back yard.On my side i might add. So the left side of my face got dragged along rocks and dirt twisted my knee and ripped my pants. My neibor got a hold of the dog and brought her back.So im already sore.

Did you get your knee checked out? Our dog did this to my daughter. It got progressively worse over about 6 months. When all was said and done, a big chunk of cartiledge is missing and the bone is chipped. Her symptoms didn't indicate the seriousness of her injury. She just got some swelling now and then w/ extra bending and moving. You might want to check in w/ an ortho guy.

Ooh, that brings back memories. I have two big boys, approx 80-90 pounds each. I used to walk them together, until Riley saw a goat and they both chased it the first time they saw one. They dragged me about 15 feet down a gravel slope, and we only stopped because Riley ended up going THROUGH a field gate (bending it in the process), but because I was still attached to him via the leash (which I had looped over my wrist), we stopped when my shoulder hit the gap. I was too big to fit through. I looked like a car accident victim for weeks afterward - bruised and scraped up all along one side of my body and face.

You have my sympathies. I would suggest investing in a Halti. They work like a charm, and they don't hurt your dog (although Riley's pride is always horribly bruised when I make him wear one). Riley is a lab-pit mix, and he is solid muscle. Think of a boxer on steroids, and you've got a good idea of Riley's build. He could be a sled dog. But put the Halti on him, and you'd think he was the most amenable, obedient dog in the world. (Except that he drops his tail between his legs and glares at me.) It acts like a horse halter, and controls your dog by turning his head if he pulls. I couldn't walk him without one.

Nana2Two, I do hope you're feeling better soon. Madhen is right - those Halti's (they're called noseleaders here) really DO work. Talk with someone at a pet store, and bring the pup in to learn how to put it on though. You'll probably have better luck getting him used to it as a pup rather than later - our Kaya acted like a 2yo toddler with hers FOREVER. I never learned how to get it on her right - I would bring it with me and show it as a threat if she gets too antsy on her leash, haha. Even that way, it worked

Oh so sorry to hear about your boo boos. Keep an eye on them to make sure they are healing okay and if you are in too much pain pay the doc a visit. I have always had greatdanes and one time I was out in the yard with my neighbor and my dog came running full speed toward me and I zigged and zagged and she still hit me and I went up in the air and came down like a cannon ball. Let me tell you I saw stars. I picked myself up and thank the lord I was younger and I didn't break anything. I guess we all have good and bad dog tales but we love the critters through thick and thin. Hope you feel better.
