I've never seen the movie, nor do I need to. I know what the Bible says about the end times (and when the end is going to occur). God's word is good enough for me.
But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.
Zech. 14:7
But about that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. For as the days of Noah were, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark, and they knew nothing until the flood came and swept them all away, so too will be the coming of the Son of Man. Then two will be in the field; one will be taken and one will be left. Two women will be grinding meal together; one will be taken and one will be left. Keep awake therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. But understand this: if the owner of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an unexpected hour.
Matt. 24:36-44
And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
Acts 1:7
For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
1st Thess. 5:2
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
2nd Peter 3:10
CHRIST RETURNETH
Lyrics: HL Turner, 1878. Composer: James McGranahan, ca. 1906.
O Lord Jesus, how long, how long
Ere we shout the glad song,
Christ returneth! Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Amen. Hallelujah! Amen.
It may be at morn, when the day is awaking,
When sunlight through darkness and shadow is breaking
That Jesus will come in the fullness of glory
To receive from the world “His own.”
O Lord Jesus, how long, how long
Ere we shout the glad song,
Christ returneth! Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Amen. Hallelujah! Amen.
It may be at midday, it may be at twilight,
It may be, perchance, that the blackness of midnight
Will burst into light in the blaze of His glory,
When Jesus receives “His own.”
O Lord Jesus, how long, how long
Ere we shout the glad song,
Christ returneth! Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Amen. Hallelujah! Amen.
Oh, joy! oh, delight! should we go without dying,
No sickness, no sadness, no dread and no crying.
Caught up through the clouds with our Lord into glory,
When Jesus receives “His own.”
O Lord Jesus, how long, how long
Ere we shout the glad song,
Christ returneth! Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Amen. Hallelujah! Amen.Last edited by QM; 06-10-2009 at 04:41 PM.

well, the modern calendar was set and determined by man, and has no real basis in anything so I disagree with the end days timeline.
But I remember hearing about this as a child and being terrified.

"Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets."
Amos 3:7
"But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Therefore let us not sleep, as [do] others; but let us watch and be sober."
I Thessalonians 5: 4-6
"Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee."

Wouldn't it be easy if we knew the day the world would end, then we can all repent the day before!

Well if you are a Christian you really have no worry about this. You should however be ready for that day, which no one knows. Man can't get the weather right from one day to the next, but he assumes he's smart enough to predict the exact day the Rapture will come. BTW, the Rapture is not the end of the world. The Rapture is the taking of the Church( Christians, both living and dead) out of this world.

I've not heard anything about this; maybe it's just as well.....
This reminds of when I taught in a private church related school, and one day the science teacher announced that the raptors would be in the school gym on Friday. Well, the students thought she said "rapture" and were all ga-ga about how the science teacher could tell when the end of the world would be!Spiritual:

But about that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father..... that pretty much sums it up for me.
I haven't heard of this movie but for what it's worth I do show my students a History channel video about Mayan doomsday prophecy that explains the mayan calenders and that they think the world will end on dec 21 2012. I don't believe it but it's interesting none the less. the kids really get a kick out of it.I love being a History Teacher!

Isn't that the last day of the Mesoamerican long calendar and supposedly signifies the end of the world? Someone I know pointed out that perhaps the only reason the Mayan guy who created the calendar ended it on that day was because he died and didn't get around to adding anymore.
As you can tell, this isn't something I worry about. Besides, most scholars think that particular calendar is just supposed to reset after that date.
