I enjoyed this...I personally like living frugally!! In my mind, I tell myself that lots of people did this, including my grandparents and parents, and that it isn't a bad thing at all!! I have found that selling things I dont need, paying off debt, and then keeping the house down to the bare minimums had helped with my sanity! I don't have so much to clean, I'm much more organized and I have so much time to spend with the family!!

I remember my Mom talking about how if they grew out of their shoes during the Summer they didn't get a new pair until it started getting cold, and my Aunt used to speak fondly of her Christmas stocking, the only present the kids opened on Christmas morning. She said they got a orange and a peppermint stick and a few pennies. Could imagine kids faces now a days if they woke on Christmas morning and this was all they received?!

My Dad used to fondly recall how his Dad used to pull old bikes and wagons out of others trash and refurbish them to give them for their birthdays or Christmas.

It's amazing how much more we have today and how much we believe we can not live without. I'm guilty of it myself, but I'm working at being content with what I have and learning new skills that help me not fall into the trap of consumerisum. It's tough though, sometimes even going to church is like a fashion show.
