Going on somewhat frugal vaycay!!
The inlaws invited us to go to North Carolina for a few days. They are renting a house in the mountains near one of my dh's brothers. This will be the frist time in about 8 years all the brothers and one sister will be together. The inlaws are paying for the rental and stocking the house with food. It is in the mountains so there will not be a whole lot of things to do that cost money.
Our costs will be the gas from florida to n.c. and food on the road. We will be packing food for the trip up of course. Not so sure about the trip back.
We will be leaving next Sat. and comming home on the following Weds. Sat. evening, Sun and Mon will be enough family togetherness. Two daugher-in-laws don't get along with mother-in-law. I get along with all of them though. So we will be leaving a day early and taking a day trip to Savannah Georgia on the way home! I can't wait!!
That is where we will incure most of the cost of the trip. I am going to go in priceline and try to get a room for a discount. We were thinking of taking a ghost tour. I am not normally into that but, it seems like one of the popluar things to do there.
Any suggestions from those who have been there? We would love to go to Paula Deans Lady and Sons but, highly doubtful we will. The Paula Dean tour costs 50.00 per person, you do get a buffet lunch at her brothers place Uncle Bubbas Oyster HOuse and a preferred seating at Lady and Sons. Dh wasn't all that interested, thought all he would get to eat would be sticks of butter Ha! Ha! Yummy Sounthern Cooking!!!
What are the must see things. Oh, I think we will be doing the trolly tour also. TIAMarried 22 years to Mark

Have fun!!! I love Paula Deen, but I can make her recipes for free. I don't think I'd pay that for her "tour." She is fun though.

We are just going to take the regular trolly tour around the city since we will only be there for one day. That will give us a good taste of what is there. I am sure we will see plenty!!

My favorite thing to do on vacation EVER...
Is go to a thrift store or two in a new place!
You have souvenirs you'll actually use every day, and they cost less. I love my sweater from England and my silk scarf from paris..

Have a great time on your vacation!I love the idea about finding thrift stores for "souveneirs".
I think we'll do the same when we go to San Francisco. (Hey, I once went to a garage sale in Tombstone, AZ. while we were on vacation.
