    Default A Caution for Parents About A New Seach Engine

    Received this in my daily tips email newsletter from Kim Komando, she does a radio show all about tech/internet/computer stuff. We recently saved the bing search engine site but it's gone & blocked now after reading and following through this tutorial. Although we do supervise our kids while they use the computer there is little we can do if that kinda video is moused over accidentally. yikes. hth.

    A. Bing is a new search engine from Microsoft. It's trying to move beyond simply providing a list of related links. And it uses some innovative tools to do that. Unfortunately, one has backfired big time.

    All search engines let you search specifically for videos. But Bing provides in-result video previews. Roll your mouse over a result and the video starts playing. You get about a minute preview, complete with audio.

    Great. I feel so outnumbered at times. My teens stay up later than me. Even if I don't mention it, I'm sure some idiot friend online will. We have our wireless shut down between midnight and 5 a.m. but my son knows how to get around it. My husband monitors the web but that only tells him where they have already been. What's a mom to do.??

    You're welcome. I was so flabbergasted when I saw this too! Follow the tutorial to block that search engine from being used, it's the best we can do afaik.

    It' hard keeping one step ahead these days.
