What Are You Getting Your Dad or Hubby for Father's Day?
I got a circular saw for my hubby...as per his request. It wasn't cheap. I wanted a good quality one (not that he'll use it that much) and paid $89.99 plus tax. If he thinks that's too much he can get a cheaper one from Wal-Mart for $67.99 plus tax.
An obstacle is what comes up when you lose sight of your goal.

Dad is getting homemade jam and a strawberry pie. We are also making him a scrapbook of his favorite people.
FIL is getting a gc to a shooting range. His request.... And some homemade jam.
Husband is getting solatubes (I got some professional development money) and some grilling stuff: lava rocks, a new igniter and new burner to replace the broken ones. He's been wanting the solatubes for 3 years!

My babydd and I have made a print of her hands and feet on a small canvas using finger paint. It was a bit messy, but the result is really cute. We've hidden the result next to the cleaning supplies, dh never looks there ;-)

Dad's Birthday is the day before Father's Day (some years they're the same day!) so Mom & I usually go in together to get one larger gift from the both of us for both holidays. This year I got him a GPS for his truck since they usually drive when they decide to travel. Not cheap, but found a good deal on one at Best Buy and it had good reviews from people I know and from the store. That and I'm coming home the following week, so that will be his gift too!

I'm getting my dad a pair of khaki shorts, shirt and a gift card for gas. He & my step-mom have custody of my nephew & two nieces. The five of them (plus, my dad lets the nieces and nephew each bring a friend on the trip) leave every year on Father's day for their vacation so the gas card is just an extra something to use on their trip.
I don't get DH anything. The kids may or may not get him something. We really don't get into the Mother's day/Father's day thing for the most part.
Not sure if DH is getting his dad anything or not. That is something he handles on his own.
We do have to go out to eat with his side of the family. There will be 8 of us piling into Red Lobster & I am not thrilled about it. I love his family & love Red Lobster. I just don't like going out to eat with a large group. Everyone seems to look and I feel uncomfortable. Also, my MIL is a horrible tipper. She only leaves $5-$10 on a $150 tab. DH and I always end up taking extra cash to leave for the server.DD (19)

Well we are getting married tomorrow so I think his dad will love that present. He's only been waiting for it for 12 1/2 years.
I lost my dad last April to suicide.

We sent our Dads cards from us and one from the kids too. Both sets of parents have told us no more gifts for Father's/Mother's Day and birthdays. We will also call them.
I got dh a new wallet. His is falling apart. Dd got him some of his favorite candy and ds got him the movie Smoky and the Bandit! And we got him cards too! I have to work Sunday but I may try to make him a cheesecake or something special too.S

~I'm not big on these kind of holidays so I try not to gift anything but a baked good and some quality time to share it in. So it's basically like any other day with my dad.

Hubby and I have always picked our own 'gifts' on M's day and F's day. We each chose something that will either make our tasks easier or more pleasant. This year I chose a set of glass refrigerator containers. I suggested that DH choose new, larger trash cans with wheels.
We leave the kids involvement in holidays completely up to them. When they get older and understand the concept they can choose to participate or gift in any way they feel comfortable. I'd rather not put an expectation of these days on them or us.~~Constance

I'm giving Dad a jar of home-made jelly... I gave Mom one for Mother's day & they've apparently been fighting over it!

SD always does her own thing for DH, for fathers' day - DD made a gift coupon book for DH in school & will be giving him that.
I'll make DH a card - DH is extra special to me on father's day, see, because he isn't DD's bio-father. He's her "dad" because he wants to be, not because he has to.
Don't know what else to do yet...
