Spin off of how hot....
We have lots of people from midwest, Texas, Colorado and back east where some wild weather has been happening.
Would like to know if all are okay and what they have experienced?
Anyone have any tornadoes in your areas?
Sorry if this sounds 'simple' but do you get a chance to get away? This is coming from someone that has never experienced that season and glad for it. But have a great respect for Mother Nature after our fire storm ripped across the valley last year.
If your stats don't say where you are from, can you put it...at least the state......in the post? Thanks......hope you are ALL doing fine.

Tornado central here. We usually get several a year, though so far this spring has been pretty calm.
There is a warning siren system in place here. When a storm has been identified as having a potential tornado (there's a specific 'signature' in the weather patterns for it) or they have an actual 'lowering', or a 'funnel' then they blow the sirens for that county and send alerts on radio and tv for surrounding areas.
Most people will get 15-30 minutes warning of an impending tornado, and 30-60 minutes warning for severe storms that could generate tornadoes. Sometimes we get a whole day of "conditions are right for severe storms and tornadoes with little warning" messages. People know what the sirens mean. How they react to them is anyone's guess.Use it up, Wear it out,

Thanks CH. I hope other people post. I can not even PHATHOM what it would be like.

I have a niece that lived in KS for awhile, is now So. of Seattle and she will sometimes say..."boy, conditions sure feel right today for a tornado"....
..which; we get some very minor ones....or 'dust devils' but not too many touch down.

I find weather fascinating. I grew up in Olympia, Wa, but moved to Iowa to attend graduate school and ended up living there for about 9 years. I learned to appreaciate the weather. I have lived thought several bad storms. At our last house we could not hear the sirens so we purchased a weather radio. Last Spring there was about a 2 week stretch where it woke us up every night. We spend many of those nights in the basement waiting out the storms.
In Fall we moved back the Northwest and now live in the Eugene area. I am amazed our mild the weather is. No snow or rain storms and the tempertures are very mild. Living elsewhere for a while can put weather in perspective. We still have our weather radio and it has only gone off once since we moved. I was relieved to hear it go off, because at least I knew it still worked.Julie

here in indiana we get our fair share of tornado close calls....while most of them don't make it to the ground we get alot of warnings....it's been pretty quiet here this spring...TONS of rain...but that's all...rain, rain & more rain...and not really scary threatening storms (with all the thunder/lightning & heavy winds)...just gentle POURING rain...(think-rainforest...) lol hopefully we will make it thru the summer without any tornado damage...i don't find them much fun and really get nervous when the conditions are 'right'...(i was in a tornado back in '85 where the roof was taken off our building and lots of things flattened all around us)...not something i would like to experience again...so when they say tornado's are coming...i corral the cats to one room...get the kitty carrier ready to go in a seconds notice and put on my shoes....i'm ready....
