    Talking

Yesterday, while getting the mail, and buying milk to stock up on before my medical tests, I turned a corner downtown and came upon an unexpected yardsale.

And I hit the mother-lode of yardsale greeting cards!!!

There were bags full of greeting-cards, many of them in their plastic packaging, all sizes and types, most of them new.
And they were FREE!!! That's right, FREE!!!
The owner told me they were moving her mom to a smaller apartment, so lots of her stuff had to be cleared out. And she was a prolific letter and greeting-card correspondent. I took 2 full grocery bags of greeting-cards, a full grocery bag of FREE current magazines, several free books & notebooks, a free bag of hangers, and 2 beautiful free grapevine ornaments for my backyard fences.
Of course, I couldn't accept them all without paying something, so I gave her $2.
I barely managed to stagger home with all my finds piled on my little cart. It took me a while to organize them, but now I'm literally stocked for life on greeting cards, and extra envelopes.

PS: One of the most interesting things about my find was that there were many old photos in the pile that the owner didn't want; she said if I came across any, just to throw them away.
I came across a good black-and-white mounted photograph
of 2 little boys wearing the "Little Lord Fauntelroy" suits (one of them velvet) and long stockings that were the fashion way back then. The photo is over 100 years old!!!

An old fashion kitchen cupboard that has a built in flour sifter and holder, a place for canned goods, a board that pulls out for rolling, all sorts of neat built ins. Very popular in the late 1800's and still today with the Amish. I love antiques. I refinished it. Beautiful. Diane

Wow! You people can find the gems. I don't seem to do too good at yard sales. May have to try harder this summer.
