    Default worth the money spent

I often think about the things I've bought that weren't cheap but were well worth the money spent. One example is my computer.

What are some purchases you've made that were well worth it. Does it save or make you money? Save you time? Just absolutely love it? Why?

Great question! I recently got a professional quality DSLR camera. I used my frugal sensibilities and got a great deal but it was still not cheap. I love it though and use it everyday. I love learning new things and this is something that will keep me buys for a while. I am able to make a little money with it as well taking pictures for the local paper. I will have to submit a lot of pictures to earn the cost of the camera though so I can't really say it was about that. My frugality serves me well but I don't serve it, kwim? This was one of those things that I will never regret buying and I could afford so why not?

I mentioned this in one of my articles, but backpacks were something I spent more on this past yr and they held up so well that I will never buy cheap backpacks again.

I guess we could switch this around, too. And share items we spent good money on and realized we didn't need to. Or things we went cheap on and should have spent more money.

Good money wasted: My sewing machine.
Cheap purchase that I should have bought better quality: A vacuum.

) Our Dyson vacuum- I breed dogs, but we do not have a kennel, they live in the house with us, though they are sometimes crated, it's a LOT of fur- the Dyson has been worth every penny!
    2) my husband's work boots- he's a machinist, and finds the cheap $40 boots 'wear out' within six months or so, needing replacements- but the $100/150 will last 1.5 years +

Things we didn't spend $ on and should have: a $100 motorcycle helmet. Years ago, the only helmet my size was a kids' size large Bell helmet, and it was $100, around 1979, a lot of money for us. We decided not to buy it.

Well, you guessed it, I got in an accident. $2,000-$3,000 worth of hospital, ambulance, etc. bills were the result (my dad paid for my hospital room).

We have never stinted on safety equipment since!

My DD's laptop w/ tablet and remote. We got my DH work discout but it was still quite costly. She will be able to design cakes on the tablet and that will help her career. She is so overjoyes with it I am glad we splurged.

I have to say the best thing I have spent money on is my memory foam mattress. It isn't just the top but the whole thing. Every night when I get into bed I say this is the best bed ever. If I go on vacation I am so happy to get home to my bed.

The worst thing I have spent my money on was a vacuum cleaner that is so loud that I put off vacuuming my rug or get my husband to do it.

Dh's computer (the old one died) and the parts that were salvageable gave me upgrades. It was well worth the money spent on it as so much of business and leisure are tied through these computers.

I guess after thinking about it, it's not so much the money spent as what items we've learned quality matters most and if it costs more, it's money well spent. I was thinking plenty of things I've bought secondhand that were high quality.

    Tools is one.

I agree with the mattress (well everything shared so far, too).

My sewing machine was the first thing that came to my mind. It wasn't the most expensive, in fact, it's on the cheaper end...but that doesn't mean it doesn't work. I love it. It's kept me busy and made me money.

My wife had thirty-four cross stitch projects to be framed. I spent eight hundred dollars on equipment and supplies to frame them. The last one she had framed cost one hundred and twenty-five dollars. That was a good return on investment and I learned a new skill.

My sewing machine, for sure. It's an old Bernina 830, bought in 1977 or thereabouts for $700, which was a lot to spend on a sewing machine. Just the wedding clothes for our 2 DD's made it well worth the money, but the most value for me is the pleasure I get from sewing on a machine that has never given me any trouble.

My computer...for obvious reasons. Our tankless hotwater heater, saves us a bundle on our natural gas bill and we never run out of hot water. Our new furnace, much more efficient to run and it saves us money. Our new french doors/freezer on the bottom refrigerator, has lots of freezer room and now the grandkids can reach the popsicles themselves, has a drawer to hold a full size sheet cake (love it!), has a fruit drawer and a veggie drawer each with its own control for humidity (less waste) and it has movable glass shelves that pull out.
