    Question Anyone have cherry trees

I have several cherry trees that are just full this year. A few days ago i looked and they were a litte pink and today they look they are just ready to be picked, they are deep red. I bet 1 tree has about 400+ they are not huge trees.I have 3 plus a 1/2 one that broke 2 year ago. None of my peaches came in this year. They got damaged in winter storms and broke in half from ice. My blackberries and rasberries are coming in.. Anyone else have cherry trees

We just planted two this year, we are wondering how long it will take to bear fruit (probably 2-3 years). We have blackberries and raspberries too, and my aunt says we will probably get alot of berries this year due to all the moisture.

It sounds like they have a quick maturity. How do they do with birds? Will their be anything left for you?

my cherries each produced this year (their first years of fruiting) one was positively LOADED and is still giveing more. The plum, appl, and peaches did nothing.

My tree is about four years old now. It produced the last two years, but the birds have wiped it out before I had time to try any of the cherries!

I think your birds flew east and hit our tree after they finished your's off. Our cherries weren't even done ripening and they were all over it, and we had tons of fruit this year. Last year we got 2 pies out of it.

I pick mine as soon as I can, the birds get the tops, which I can't reach anyway, I pick the bottom. I get what I want and leave the rest for them.

Do you have to spray your trees to keep away worms? I ask because our neighbor gave us a bucketful of cherries one time and they were all full of worms. I think they were hoping we wouldn't notice the worms! Never had they been generous with their cherries before.

We didn't plant any cherry trees in our new place because the birds always got them at the last one. Anyone have any ideas for protecting the cherries from the birds?

If you are at home, they do sell nets that you can use to cover your trees. You have to check them regularly, however, to make sure no birds get caught up in them.

Some people hang old CD's from ribbons in the trees, because the sun glinting on them startles the birds.

Personally, I am thinking I just need to plant more trees, until the bird to cherry ratio shifts.
