You did the right thing. We can only hope and pray that they'll take the boy's side and help him. <3

As a person who used to work in a placement center, the stories and things you hear, seem so unbelieveable to anyone else!!! I am so proud of you and like everyone else has said YOU DID THE RIGHT THING!!!
I commend your son for taking this seriously when his friend told him the information, sometimes kids don't believe others or just think they are making up a story!! Your son deserves a medal or something just for trying to help his friend, yet still trying to keep such a secret for him!! That must have been so difficult for your son to do!!
I also want to say that you did a wonderful thing by informing the schools, now they too can look out and see the signs, plus, a teacher may have remembered something and that could help with the case!!
Prayers the young man, your son, and you!!!!! Just remember that you just helped someone!!! Even though it's hard, you did the right thing!!!
Make sure you hug your son tight and the next time that young man comes over!!!! Continue to build trust with him, he may let you record something and that will be even more evidence!!!!! Keep us updated!!

Big hugs to you and your son. I hope you have saved this poor boy! I am sending up prayers for him. It makes me so sad to hear people treating their children so poorly.

Oh I pray that what you did will help the child. I can't imagine a child going hungry when there are so many of us here that have stockpiles of food. I share what I can but most of the time, see no "need".
I commend you and your son for doing "the right thing". God bless.

Update
Jantana sent me a private message asking about this. I thought I updated but I didn't! Thanks Jantana for reminding me! Here is what I PM'ed to Jantana
I'm 99% sure someone was in the home talking to the family because of a few things he said. . I'm not sure because I didn't outright ask but I think something might have happened. I had said before that the kids doesn't get to come over often . Well he spent 5 mights here last two weeks.
While all the kids were in the car while we were driving to get groceries he started talking about stuff and asked if I knew his step dad could go to jail for hitting him. I told him I absolutely did and I enforced the fact that if something like that ever happened he needed to tell any adult outside his home so they could step in. He said "yep, I know that now"
I kind of played dumb because I didn't want him to think my son betrayed him by telling me. He said quite a bit in that car trip that led me to think that someone checked into it or talked to the parents because of what was coming out of his mouth. He also said that his parents had to let him eat more because he was growing a lot . I told him "you need to eat a lot to catch up with your height kiddo!"
He seemed pretty happy and was jabbering up a storm. He is coming to stay Tues -Thur. I'm not going to ask him but I think something happened. Kind of sounds like it. Sounds better a bit I think.

i wish i could have been a fly on the wall when the social worker made her visit.
11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Thanks for helping this boy! I doubt that the parents will do any differently than what they've been doing, but time will tell. I'd send some extra food with your son each day for his friend to supplement his meager diet with.
