Great article... I'm glad I finished as I almost didn't. I thought it was going to be another person telling me that I'm too overprotective and that they came through just fine so what's all the fuss about. I was glad to see someone acknowledge exactly why parents take these precautions. I especially found the following piece to explain why we do things differently now...

“The bottom line is that things like bike accidents where a kid died because they didn’t wear a helmet, those rarely occurred. But if your kid happened to fall and was one out of 10,000 who died, you must live with knowing it was preventable,” Berman said.

And agree wholeheartedly with this...

"I’m glad I live now, have access to good medical care — as well as the information to make informed choices — and safer products

I may not always make the best choices but at least I have more information when I make those choices.
