It pays to be a nudge
I finally got the hospital bill for my dd's appendectomy that happened way back on Palm Sunday. It seemed higher than I had estimated. Dh said, "Just pay it". But me being me, I just couldn't, so 3 phone calls later I got the bill reduced by $2000!
They had not deducted his employee discount from the bill. So he can call me a nudge and pest, but he better do it REALLY nicely.

i just payed that game er played that game w/ my car repair. I got a $60. discount. Besides you won't be a nudge when he wants something w/ that $2000. saved money, will you. I can get 2 hair cuts w/ $60. Imagine what you can get w/ $2000. That's about how much gasoline we use for our car per year. It literally pays to be a niggler. Good for you.

Why didn't he take it in to Billing and get the reduction? My hubby works at the local hospital and for everything we get done, when the bill comes, he takes it in and gets the reduction. That way they see his ID badge and he has no trouble with them. It's great getting blood work for only $8 ( after insurance and discount) LOL

That's fantastic!
I always call and ask for an itemized bill that explains what each code item is for. How else can I tell if 47541 is the sutures that they used, or the Tylenol that I brought in myself that they are trying to charge me for!? --That actually happened to my friend - she brought in her own Tylenol, and they tried to charge her $4 for each dose!

That's awesome! I wish I could get DH to be like that. Recently, I changed all of our bills into my name so that I could ask for those discounts and pester people until I get something. He's too laidback. Good for you for going after the money!
