Hello!
Hi, I'm Kate, but I also occasionally go by Katie or Katy and will respond to various names :p I'm 20, and I live in the UK. I'm a student, and I divide my time between living at home with my dad and younger sister (+ 2 cats), and living in a house with 4 friends (also students). I lived in halls until very recently (my room in the house with my friends actually doesn't contain any of my stuff yet, that's how recently!) where my ability to cook, store food, etc, was very limited, and so thriftiness was very limited. Now that I'm out of that environment, I'm ready to start trying harder, to minimise as far as possible the debt I am in when I leave University, and to save for my future.
My biggest difficulty in thriftiness is trying to work out how to budget when I don't have regular income (I live on student loans).
I have a very nonthrifty boyfriend who I'm trying to kick up the arse to start working on paying down his cc debt because it seems silly that I'm bulk buying lentils in order to put us in a financially stable place in the future, while he has a proper salary, lives at home and pays no rent, and STILL manages not to work on his debt :p It's not as much a point of resentment as I made it sound, I promise, but I WOULD like some of my thrifty aspirations to rub off on him so it doesn't cause problems in our relationship when we live together.
I'm also vegan. Not sure what else to say
Hope I'm welcome here
