Cell phones need to be ban while driving
I had to run to farmking for dog food, on the way back, the girl coming toward us was looking down not paying attention slowly crossing over to our lane we honked she was texting. Scared the crap out of her, she looked to be maybe around 16 or so. Our town just lost a girl 2 weeks ago becuase of this. A mother and her 4 year was killed Satureday by a 17 year old boy texting and driving while drunk. She left a husband and daughters behind.

Here in NJ, it is already illegal to use a cell phone while driving. I see people occasionally breaking that law, but for the most part, since they made it a law, I see a lot less of it on the road.

People just need to use common sense while driving. Laws can't fix people who don't have common sense.
There was a wreck in our state a few months ago where a driver had his dog on his lap, lost control, crossed the center line and killed a 50 year old man and his 17 year old son. Seriously, why would you need a dog in your lap while driving?McD

Nope, you can't fix stupid...I completely agree with that. However, for people who aren't necessarily stupid, but needed a reminder or a little more impetus to not do it, the law is helpful.

law just passed here to ban texting and driving.....$50 fine if you are caught but certain folks are exempt. If you have time to text it isnt an emergency in my opinion!

When you think about it a $ 50 fine is nothing some teens think well mom and dad will take care of it, and its not just teens i see adults to. Sometimes i think 16 is just to young for kids to be driving in the first place. I do wish they would pass the law till 18. There are just not many kids that are mature enough to drive.I see how they zoom down the road here in there mustang at 60 when the sign says 35.My daughter is 17 and is mature in some areas but her dad i both agree in the common sence area she is not and thats why we have not bought her a car. She gets straight A's in school but she fluncked driving test 3 times and passed it the 4th time by 1 point. W e said no way. Its just not safe taking the chance to endanger her life, the life of others and not to mention our insurance going through the roof.So sometimes i think parents are also excited to see there babies grow up and get there first car like they did.Its scary.

Just passed the law on Oahu - so using a cell phone while driving - wish they would do it here. Even if people are looking where they are going, they still cannot manipulate their vehicle properly while one hand is engaged. Very scary!!

I agree there should be limits on texting while driving also. I also have to agree not everyone has the common sense to drive either, IMO. I have a son 18 who got his license on the first try, made good grades and for the most part has his head on straight. I would ride anywhere with him, but we also know someone who takes too many meds alot of the time and I would not go out of the driveway with them. My son also received a private pilots license last August of which he worked and paid every penny for and yes, mama got the first ride. So I guess it just is the individual. Sorry so long and hope I didn't step on any toes, didn't mean to anyway.
