    Question Handkerchiefs vs paper kleenex

What are your thoughts on handerchiefs vs paper kleenex? I remember my mom ironing my dads as well as I used my grandmothers when I was going through chemo as with no eyelashes, my eyes watered all of the time and paper kleenex would break off and make them worse so someone recommended handkerchiefs. Thanks for your thoughts. Take care and God bless.

My husband has always used hankerchiefs. He likes them better when he's working outside because a tissue doesn't last very long.

I don't bother w/ kleenex but I do use paper towels. They last a long time. I also use a cloth diaper when I'm at home. I wouldn't use one in public.

~I love hankies! I made a bunch from an old cotton sheet.
I wash them with my towels in hot water and air dry. I iron mine too. It only takes 2-3 minutes to do this every week and they look so nice all folded and pressed in a wooden box.
Hankies will save a little bit of money. Every hankie is worth 2 paper tissues or about $.01 savings per use. We go through about 20 a week. 20 uses X $.01 savings X 52 weeks= $10.40 saved
My main reasons for using them though are that they feel so much better to use(you won't dry out your nose like tissues can)and it's one less thing to buy and store.~

I use Kleenex. With my bad sinuses, allergies, and Asthma I couldn't carry enough hankies to get me through the day at work. My dad always carried hankies and it was my sisters and my job to iron them.

Right now we use kleenex. I would like to switch to hankies though just for the waste factor. I am trying to cut out all paper products as much as possible.

I have a lot of ladies' vintage hankies that I use. It's better for my nose and the environment than Kleenex. And they make me feel feminine.

I use hankies. My kids and dh are grossed out and only use kleenex. I have allergies and use mine for weeping eyes as much as anything so not really gross.

    KLEENEX........definitely kleenex.

I remember my dad always using a hankie and it just about grossed me out that he would pull it out......snot his nose......then stuff it back in his pocket!!! When I had to help sort the wash I would do the index and thumb thing (with all the rest of your fingers high in the air) to get the hankies into the washer. UGH!!!!!!!!!

Kleenex or other disposable product only here.

My grandfather gave DH and my dad hankies for every birthday and Christmas for a few years in a row. Neither of them ever opened a single package of them. I had to drop them all off in the Goodwill donation box.

Great picture with words Frugalfranny!! I remember doing that too!!

DH used to use handkerchiefs all the time, but has switched to Kleenex. I just asked him why, he said he couldn't find any of his and they were getting kind of worn out. Guess I know what 's going in his Christmas stocking now!! Mahalo for the idea!!

I grew up using kleenes, but then with allergies switched to Kleenex. Think I may start using some of my vintage ones now that you mentioned it!!

In house I use TP to blow my nose--LOL
I dont' buy Kleenex or anything like that.

For outside hubby and I take hankies.

I hate buying disposable products. So not buying Kleenex and just using what I have to buy (like TP) makes me feel better about the environment....I guess just one less thing I use in this world and I don't have to contribute to being manufactured.
