Some people never change
And some people change *way* more than you ever expected.
Long story ahead. I have to tell somebody...
I was flipping channels on tv yesterday and found an old lover. I didn't recognize him at first, but my eye caught the name at the bottom of the screen and I thought "Wow! It couldn't be!", but then I began to see familiar features, the eyes especially. I guess he had become successful enough in his field to end up as a talking head. He'd changed some, put on weight (it's been 15 years, we're both middle aged now) I figured he'd got married and become respectable in that time.
I was really surprised to see him, we had a relationship for about a year and then it just kind of fell apart, he drifted off and eventually vanished. We knew it wouldn't last, though I wanted it to. We didn't break up angry or anything, just stopped communicating. I had tried to find him a few years after that, but came up with zero leads.
So I thought I'd get on the internet, look him up and see what else I could find out now that he was sort of famous. Wasn't going to contact him, just wanted to see where he ended up.
I'm poking around on forums we used to chat on, where other people knew him, and find a post saying he's had a sex change and is now living as a woman. Whoa! This is some kind of joke, right? I'm floored. But it's true, or some kind of very elaborate hoax, I can find multiple sources for the story (because he's a personality it made the news). Just absolutely stunned. Sex change. So unlike the romantic guy I knew (intimately) back in college. Wow. He was an ambitious gung ho military officer when I was seeing him. I always figured he'd end up dying in combat, leaving a young widow, because the army was his first love. Not this.
I had to tell someone, and I can't bring it up with my husband. He just doesn't need to know.
Still shocked...Use it up, Wear it out,

That's quite a story! You lost me at one part, though. What did you see on tv that had him as a man if he had this operation? I'm just a little confused by that piece of the story.

The tv show was an older program, from about 2005 or 2006. He was male at the time. The sex change operation happened a little over a year ago.

Wow, at least you can never call yourself boring with this little factoid!!!
I'm sure it was a shock, I hope you aren't somehow second guessing yourself. I hope you can find humor and happiness in this somehow. He's probably been living with this for a very long time, I hope he's found some peace with this and you at the very least have a great cocktail party story for the rest of your life.
But peace for you too.

We aren't always the sex our bodies are born with, hopefully he became who he truly is with this operation.
