    Default Does it Count

I am kind of new here but am inspired by everyone's frugal idea's and the way they work hard to get ahead and pay off bills. I started this with the intention of doing the same. Unexpectedly I got a modest inheritance from my dad's brother. (I didn't expect to be in the will) with one swoop I paid off our CC, car, a hospital bill, my husbands student loan, and another small store card. I am very happy at the prospect of having no real debt for the first time in a long time but I don't feel like I have bragging rights because I didn't do this the hard way. My sister who also paid off a lot of debt with her share feels we do have bragging rights because we could have blown it and chose not too. I am using the rest to enlarge the amount of money we were using to buy a house. So anyway right or wrong I wanted to share because I am happy about the situation. Diane

It doesn't matter how you did it, you did it! You could have easily taken the inheritance and bought big screen tv's and cars and motorcycles, but you chose to do the responsible thing and pay off your debt. That's the responsible spirit of money that we all share at the village. I think you fit in beautifully! Thanks for sharing your story and I look forward to seeing you around!

I'd say it counts. You used it wisely and I'm sure your uncle would be proud of you for doing so.

    Hi

Like others have posted, you could have blown it on that big screen plasma or what not. And just think about all the interest you've saved yourself in the future. Now you can concentrate on your future financial goals without all the worries.

Well I am glad you decided to use the money to pay down debt, that's a very smart decision you made BUT remember that you wouldn't want to be in debt again so make this a new beginning.
