    IMO and American icon is gone. I remember being a very small child and watching him on the news. Not too many with his caliber left. He will be missed I'm sure.

    He was in a great group of announcers that are gone forever. It was hard to explain to my teenage DD who he was. News personalities are not icons like that anymore IMHO.

    The last honest newsman.......no one else compares or ever will.
    Really sad but what a life he had.

    I loved the part on the news where it showed Johnson and J. saying (about the V-Nam war) "if I have lost W Cronkite, I have lost the war"...would love to see a really good complete life story about him.
