Default I'm so ready for Autum

I am, so tired of the hot weather, even though it's been mild, this weekend near 100. I love the crisp air, smell of bakin stuff, almost to hot to do that right now.Love the scents of my candles and decorating for the holidays. I know the higher heating bills will come soon enough. Anyone else looking forward to it?

I am living autumn right now! I just mentioned on another thread that today with the windchill it was only 45 degrees! It definitely feels like fall here in Minnesota.

Yes! I'm very ready for it. I miss using my oven and baking goodies. I have a heart condition and the warmer weather makes it harder for me to do anything outside.

Just wish it would hurry up!

NO dont want Fall yet. We just got decent sun here for summer vs. the cloudy rainy days mostly. I want more summer.

I hate hate hate winter but love love love winter. my farming slows to a crawl from Jan/Feb into middle of Mar or so and that is my downtime!!

well, OK, bring on Fall---I will get to my downtime faster..LOL

I love fall, but won't burden you who haven't had summer with any wishes for it. I would just like the trade winds to keep blowing!!

We may be getting part of our first hurricane this weekend or early in the week. We do need rain, so any will be welcome.

Love fall in New England - miss the crispness of the air! Memories are good too!!

That's a scary thought! I was living on Oahu back in 1992 when Iniki hit Kauai. Initially they were saying it was headed right toward us, but then it turned toward Kauai and they got the worst of it. We had to evacuate because we lived on the coast. There was a lot of damage on the side of the island where we lived, but we were fortunate in that it did not impact us directly. When I lived in Pensacola, Florida, back in 1979, Hurricane Frederic hit Mobile, Alabama (about 60 miles away). There was a lot of damage around where I lived -- the fronts of some of the buildings in our apartment complex were torn off, and the screen for the drive-in behind us was completely destroyed. I remember going to the beach afterwards and the waves were so incredibly high and so many jelly fish!

    Do you have everything you need on hand? Hope so. Battling long lines to stock up on supplies right before a storm hits is no fun.....been there, done that, glad hubby #3 is a prepper. Let us know how things are going there - sending positive vibes your way {{{HUGS}}}

P.S. Don't forget the extra candles for light to crochet by

    NO NOT YET!

I love autumn too but am not ready for it. I still have lots more gardening to do.......moving plants, digging sod/enlarging beds, etc. Please, I need more time. It has been so hot for about 2 weeks that I couldn't do much from late morning on......so hope to get moving now.

Apple picking and Halloween, hay rides and autumn leaves can wait thank you. I love fall but I would like summer first. We have had cooler temps. all summer followed by rain. The U.P. should be chilly. I will bring long pants and sweatshirts. I really haven't worn shorts all summer anyways. I guess I should dig out some heavy socks too as we will be on the lake. Fall.LOL

Of all the seasons, fall is my favorite.
Been a strange summer here...a lot of rain. Only a few days up in the high 80's. We may have had one day that hit 90. Some humid days but not a lot of them. This month already it feels like fall weather.
I just hope the weather cooperates so the vegtables will finish ripening.
I have lots of green tomatoes but only have had 1 ripe one so far. Out of 50 plants, that is not good. Onions did great though

Only bad thing about fall is that winter will soon follow. The hubby plows snow so if this winter is like last year I won't see much of him. And when he his home, odds are he will spent a lot of time sleeping in his chair *watching* tv. It was so hard on him last winter....there was days he did not know what day of the week it was. I spent a lot of time at home, so yes I know the days just merged together a lot.

Sometime in September we will have the outside wood furnace going again, and then I will have all the hot water I need and then some without pulling my hair out over the electric bill.
I noticed last winter heating with the wood, that this house has never been so warm. I could walk around all winter barefoot. And we did not use the amount of wood that we thought we would.
His parents bought one also, and they too are very happy with wood heat.

The only good thing about our hot summers is the garden produce - and even that gets to be somewhat tiresome trying to keep up with it all..... It's even been hot (high 70's) when we walk at 5 a.m. Today the high is supposed to be 105°F and the wind has already reached 37 mph. Not a good day to be outside!!!

Give me winter in Kansas --- and LOTS of it.

I bake year round. When you make all your breads and baked goods you have to find energy saving and low-energy use ways to do it. The Solar Ovens get a regular workout about 8-months of the year, as well as the Sharp Convection/Microwave Oven. I can bake a loaf of yeast bread in the Sharp in 20-minutes - NO preheating, so that's a huge energy saver.
