Its basically a high tech treasure hunt..This little hobby has taken me to many interesting areas of my state that I didn't know even existed.

It involves a hand help GPS and a little sleuthing skill.

On weekends it was nothing for us to blow money we really didn't have just to have something to do..

Now for a little gas (unless you take your bikes) and at times lunch out at a local restaurant our entertainment/exercise/familytime...getting out of the house..away from the tv/video games/internet has helped our family..

I watched a family as we waited to find a treasure (cache) with three young kids..it was hilarious...the kids were searching everywhere and once they found it were able to trade swag(goodies in the cache) The laughter and smiles melted my heart..

Never tried it but my Dh just got a GPS for work so maybe we could try it out. Is there a lot of hiking involved or is it mostly driving to locations??
He can't hike a lot because of a bad leg. And I must admit to techno incompetance. sigh.

I have an acquaintance who is into geocaching. She offered to take me a few times, but I was always tied up with something else. She has some really beautiful tokens that people apparently have made just for the purpose of hiding them for geocachers.

Actually depending on area most you can drive up to and walk less than 300 feet..
Main thing to look for is difficulty rating..and to see if its a hilly terrain.

I am enjoying the ones that take you to historical places..what better way to learn about the past.
