A good reason not to buy cheap drinkware
So tonight I was washing dishes and went to put the cloth into the 12oz glass drinking cup that I had...
had being the operative word.
As soon as I put my hand in to wash the inside, it popped and the glass sliced through my right hand. It cut open quite a bit of skin above my middle finger knuckle and towards one of the adjoining fingers. I had DH rush upstairs to get a cloth and he grabbed an old pillowcase. Suffice to say, the pillowcase was completely drenched in blood by the time I made it to the ER.
I ran to the walk-in clinic nearby but missed them by 10 minutes, so I had to call a cab to the hospital to get my hand checked out. That alone cost me $11.70. I spent about an hour and a half at the hospital and there's five stitches in my hand. It bled so bad that my hand stuck together and looked like a claw. Six sticks with a needle into my finger and knuckles to put numbing agent in it and ten minutes later, the doc put the stitches in. They wrapped my hand up pretty well and gave me a brand new tube of Polytopic plus about 10 knuckle bandages.
The ride back cost me another $11.70 or so.
So the lesson here?
Don't buy 6 glasses for $2.99. It's not worth it.

BTDT! And right now it's one of my biggest fears since they put me on blood thinners.
So thanks for the reminder about the cheap-o glasses!
Sounds like you're gonna be needing some help for a few days, but so glad you're ok.

WOW hope you are better soon.
I know that hurts!
I use plastic glasses. I take mine outside with me to the barn and such and glass doesn't cut it. I have glass, but good thick ones that I hardly use except for company and such. My plastic glasses take a beating and do fine for everyday. Heck they even look like glass...LOL

It wasn't so bad after he put that numbing stuff in my hand, but even the needles into the wound made me howl and yell.

I'm making sure that I take things easy and we stick with plastic cups for now on.

~Owie! That really stinks!
I have glasses that came with my Correlle dishes and they are pretty thin. I think about them breaking everytime I handle them. (((shudder)))
Look into getting polycarbonate drinkware. It's kinda pricey but they 'look' like real glass.

The same thing happened to my daughter about a month ago, but she was lucky enough to not get cut! I feel for you, stitches are no fun!
