that is ridiculous!!! i used to love xmas, but with all the exposure to it so early it just dilutes the holiday for me. either that or i am just turning into a scrooge.

Hobby Lobby and other craft stores are always early -- if you are a crafter, and making gifts. . . you have to get started EARLY. So they put out Christmas things early to get you motivated, get the supplies to you, etc.

I got my tree last year and I have a smaller fiberoptic one that I'll be sticking in the kitchen window too. I'm not surprised that they're out early in the craft stores.
I have this urge to knit a baby blanket for Stella now and I haven't knitted anything in like 10 years.

AC Moore has there halloween stuff out already. It has been out for a couples weeks now. I just got a reward certificate in the mail today. Will probably use it to buy art paper since it is on sale now.
I really don't enjoy seeing holiday stuff in the stores so early.

Wonder how the stores do with their Christmas stuff out so early - that's usually a lot of floor space - they must get a good return or else why would they do it year and year - and earlier every year - or so it seems.

Seems like the stores forget about the holidays before xmas. Hallooween is for kids to have some fun, Thanksgiving seems to be missed all around in the stores.

I think it's because Thanksgiving can't be as commercialized as the other holidays.

Can understand the 'hobby' stores doing this. JA's has had the Xmas fabric out since their Xmas in July sale. But Lowe's will do it soon......they did last year! UGH!!!!!!!!
I used to LOVE Xmas music but the stores start it up so early now I am not exactly singing "Fa-La-La-La-La" by Xmas time!!!!!!!

~It does seem like the first Christmas displays arrive earlier every year.
I sympathize with those of you that celebrate Christmas. It must be so annoying to be bombarded with it so soon.~~Constance

But if you think about it....a lot of us are already prepping for Christmas 2009. Usually, my personal goal is to have all shopping done by the end of November. Since Maggie is expected in November and I don't want to deal with shopping while I am feeling like a big ole moo cow, I need to be done shopping, prepping, everything by October. I am doing all sorts of prep right now, so stores are helping out consumers like me.

I am about 85% sure our Hobby Lobby has some Christmas stuff out year round. Could be wrong though.McD

It truthfully doesn't bother me since I have fun making Christmas presents and goodies all year round - for me it truly is giving to others and makes me very happy.

It is one thing to put out craft kits and supplies for Christmas very early, but decorated trees? That seems a bit much.
