Default What a month (or two) its been

    Where to start:
To make a long story short a Cracker Barrel recruiter contacted my husband the first half of June and offered him an interview and said she felt she could get him his GM pay from Ryan's (or close to it) if he came on as a regular manager with them. Anyway after 2 interviews and waiting a week he got tired of waiting and called them and they said they hired someone else that had more experience in the type of resturant. Well Fast forward to the middle of July and they called him back and the last week of July they offered him a job (at a local one so at least we don't have to move).
We were suppose to get Kayla Christened on the 23rd, but he is suppose to leave that afternoon so we upped it to the 9th. All went well execpt my dad didn't look or sound to good. On Monday the 10th he told my brother, who told my husband who in turn told me when he got home from his last day at Ryan's that my dad has lung cancer in both lungs. Needless to say this past week was not a very good one for me. I didn't really have a good nights sleep until about Thursday (mostly because I was so tired from not sleeping earlier in the week.)
Then this weekend my mil and fil took all of us to Dollywood for the weekend and it did help to just get away from it all.
I've talked to my dad about every night this week. He sounds drained but in good spirits. He was in the hospital from Mon-Wed to get all the test run as inpatient so he wouldn't have to come and go all week. The last test was the biopsy and when they did that his lung collapsed so he stayed another night. Then Thursday after talking with his Dr.s they decided to do his portacath on Friday morning and go on and do a radiation and Chemo treatment so he finally got to go home on Friday evening. As of right now he will do radiation Mon-Fri and chemo on Friday, for how long is yet to be determined.
Anyway, that is what's been keeping me away this past week. I am going to go see my dad the end of this week and then Joe leaves for his training on the 23rd so until then I may not be on a whole lot, but while he is gone I'll keep you informed on how things are going my way.

Oh Kathryn - what a sad state of affairs - I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. It sounds as if he is getting the best care he can - thank goodness. You have so much on your plate and need to take care of yourself. Sending prayers and aloha your way.

I am so sorry Kathryn. I went through the same thing with my dad when I was exactly your age. It was one of the hardest times of my life.

Try to spend as much time with your dad as you can and let the kids be with him too if he enjoys that. I know it brought my dad a lot of joy and got his mind off things.

    My prayers are with you.

I'm sorry. That sounds like a lot to handle in a short time.

I am keeping you in my prayers. Good Luck to your Father. My Grandfather had lung cancer and he lived for many good years.
