Lucky, lucky!

I live in military housing and our housing is run by a private company, who occasionally runs promotions and holds special events for the folks who live here. A few days ago, I saw a flyer at our mailbox saying that they were having a "summer fun fest" and that they'd be giving away a couple bicycles, a couple book bags and a bunch of school supplies. My daughter is really close to outgrowing her bike, so when I saw that they were giving bikes away, I figured why not? We might as well go and give it a shot.

Let me tell you, I really wanted her to get this bike. I'm really trying to figure out how to have a nice Christmas on a slim budget, and getting the bike that she could have used would have really blown my budget.

The picnic was free and there was quite a bit to do, so we waited until the drawing even though we didn't technically have to be there in order to win it. When they finally got around to drawing for the bike, the guy with the mike grabs the little yellow paper with the winners name, takes a a close look and then turns toward the person next to him like he's asking a question. I just KNEW that my little girl had won, because few people get her name on the first try! Sure enough, she got it!

I couldn't believe it. I was happier than she was!
