Default How long would you last without the internet???

Well.... I just spent 5 and a half weeks of the past 8 weeks without it!
Either the computer wasn't working or just when I finally had a computer we lost our internet! Seems that the internet company upgraded the system so that it was faster, but the problem was that faster system didn't have as far a range ( and we leave pretty far out), so they had to install it closer to us...
the good thing is they are giving me 3 months free internet for the inconvenience they caused.....

Hopefully.... I am back for good....I missed you all...

Not long. As I have no car it is my primary method of communicating with the outside world and checking on news, sales, weather, travel, etc. I use it to keep in touch with all my old friends from high school and college, DH while he is at work, etc.

We do occasionally take a week and go on a trip with no computer, but we are busy doing and seeing things, talking to people face to face, reading real newspapers and such that we don't really miss it.

Not long at all. I am a complete homebody, except for work &
visiting my Mom. This is my link to the world.

I love to read and read at a lot of sites, but since finding Frugal
Village, I am here the most. So much to learn, and such
knowledge when you have a question!

I pay my credit cards online which is a necessity these days!
Need that confirmation page and number in case they try to
say I am late and get even more money! I have read about
too many people that mailed their payment 2 weeks early &
the credit card company said it was late. So, UP goes your
    interest rates and fees abound.

Without my puter, I would be an unorganized mess....

I wasn't completely without internet, but it was very limited. A few years ago I moved into a new apartment and my roommate and I were slow about getting internet and cable set-up so we didn't have either for about a month. There was a cafe a few blocks away with wireless, but I noticed not having it in my home was an interesting experience. At first I felt as though I might go crazy, I didn't know what to do with myself. Then I became super productive, assembling furniture, cleaning, baking, getting schoolwork done early etc.

It was an interesting experience, and while i'm not opposed to limiting my usage, I don't think I could do without, because as previously mentioned here, I use it for everything.

I have a back up computer now.
I have a back up keyboard.
    A back up mouse.
    A back up monitor.

And I make SURE I pay the bill on time every month.

I had dialup for just just over 9 years. The phone company finally upgraded and I was able to get DSL last year. Still not the fastest connection out there, but I am happy with it.
Over 2 months not getting the right answers from the phone company when I first got hooked up. They had no clue why I could not finish the connection. I had to figure it out with a little help from a local computer tech. My ten year old computer was ( still is ) just fine, even though they told me it wasn't. I finally found this computer at a garage sale trying to do someone else a favor.

Guess I better answer your question .........
    would I last long ?........
    define *long* ....
well maybe a couple of days at the most...........

It's funny...I was just thinking about this yesterday. We were out and didn't have the address for something, so I called my Dad and had him look it up online. I started thinking about what we would have done 30 years ago.

Could I survive? Sure. Would I be happy? Absolutely not.

I've gone a year or more without it. And to be honest, if it wasn't for the teens needing it for research papers for school, I'd probably cancel it now. I love email and being able to come to FV but I live way out in the country and the internet doesn't work more than it does. Our area has really really old, outdated phone lines which makes having the internet a problem.

    Glad to see you again!

I would miss it but I am sure I would get more things done around the house if I didn't have it. I guess I would get over it just like any other habit that exists in my life.

~I've gone for weeks without a computer and internet too. I loved how much time I had for everything else but its' absence made me a bit crazy.
The internet is my weatherman, news center, social club, bank, encyclopedia, fix anything manual, magazine, and discount shopping superstore.
Nice to see you back, holly!
