    Default My daughter just made her final!!!!!

    In the Canada Summer Games in Prince Edward Island!!!!

    Her final is at 10:50 Maritime time!!!

    Please think positve thoughts and send them her way.

    She is racing a two person kayak a distance of 1000 m!

    Their names are Clara (myDd) and Rebecca...

    Oh my I wish I were there!!!

    Thanks everyone...
    The final has been delayed to Friday at 14:40 maritime time... ugh.

    I don't know why, but all the finals for today were moved. Maybe they are having a thunderstorm?? Any PEI members here to let me know?

    She has another race tomorrow a 2000 m distance..

    It was a long hall for her to get there.... at the trials this spring (you have to be selected to the provincial team) a competitor flipped her into the water as she was passing in her best distance (2km). But she did so well in the other distances (she was MAD) that she had personal bests and racked up enough points to still qualify in 4th spot. The other girl came in 7th.....I don't feel too bad for her...

    It has been a summer of dreams for my daughter. She trained with the best, had a great partner selected for her and even though they have never kayaked together before they are doing great!

    She was sent to the World Championships (first time it has been in Canada in 17 years) in Nova Scotia where she got to train with world champions and watch the games.... and now

    She is in PEI being treated like Olympic "royalty" (ie: unlimited food...) and racing in the Canada Summer Games... which involves selected athletes from each provence in all sports...

    And it has all been paid for (except meals in Nova Scotia which she paid for herself). You should see the athletic team uniforms! They were provided with a whole wardrobe and even a sleeping bag!!!!

    Now remember to channel Joy and positive thoughts to her and Rebecca for Thursday and Friday!!! A medal would be amazing!
