Checking in after another absence...
Here we go again. After another unanticipated absence (I guess I came back too soon last time) I am back at the Village. For those of you still here from a few months ago, I have missed you all! For the newer members, I’m looking forward to getting to know you.
Just as a quick update I’d like to say life has been hectic and full. The last 6 months has been very rough both at work and between my husband and I. My focus has been completely on those two things with most of it being on my marriage. I’m sure any of you that have been in a long relationship have hit a rough patch or two and you know that to work through it sometimes there isn’t energy left for anything else. Friends, family, even my very ingrained frugal ways, had to be put to the side. We’re still kind of rocky and treading carefully but the path is getting much smoother again every day and we’re back on it together.
As for my job, I am more committed than ever to that change I see coming on the horizon. I’m still probably looking at next summer but there is a lot less wavering in my heart.
I said earlier that even my ingrained frugal ways had fallen by the wayside the last few months and the reality is they’ve probably been more off most of this year than they’ve ever been. I look forward to putting this part of my life back on track as well. I know of no better place to stay motivated with that than here with kindred spirits. I am very happy to be back.

Great to see you TheRootedNomad! As I read these forums today I have to chuckle that I am not the only one who has been absent from the forum for a while. It's great to see all these names popping back in to post. The best thing is that we all know where to come back to.. to get the inspiration and helpful hints that keep us ....on the wagon.... why do we ever fall off???

Aloha and welcome back. It's interesting that so many are returning as the seasons change - glad that you returned!!

Hey, welcome back!!
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Welcome back.
My husband and I went though a very rough patch 10+ years ago and got some help. It takes a lot out of you.
Glad to hear that things have turned around!
