Default I feel the winter nesting urge hitting.....

The kids are back at school, my summer job is almost done (well the full time part anyway), the leaves are starting to change and I feel that winter nesting urge coming on.

Today I made homemade veggie soup. I just wanted it so I made it even though it's in the 70's and I don't usually eat soup when it's that warm. Then I decided I wanted corn bread so I made that too LOL.

I've started making of list of winter projects for me to keep busy with. My house is a disaster! I don't have much time in summer to clean and organize and dh and the kids just go nuts without me around LOL.

They are calling for a bad winter for us with lots of snow. I almost hope we get that so I can hunker down and just get things done here and relax a little!

Me too! Though, my kids still have another week before school starts, it still feels like fall is around the corner. I love fall. It's my favorite time of year, so I can't wait for it to get here.

I seem to be more energetic in the fall and definitely feel the 'nesting' each and every year.

Must be in the air. I haven't made bread all summer...today I have 4 loaves rising on my counter! I am so ready for cool weather. I get so much more done.

I feel the same way. The days here have still been getting into the 30's but the mornings are chilly enough to need a sweater. So far I have gotten alot done in the past 5 days
-baked 4 loaves of banana bread
-baked 2 dozen apple berry tarts
    -baked an apple berry pie
-cleaned out every room in the house, including organizing, decluttering and washing stuff down(thank goodness we have a small house)
-canned 23 jars of crab apple jelly
-made an inventory of the cupboards and freezer
Today I am going to tag stuff for the garage sale tomorrow. The signs are made so I just need to get out tonight and put them up. Once the temp goes down this evening I will be putting a turkey in the oven for dinner tomorrow.

    Um...

    you um...

    YOu know it's August...right?

If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

We could break a heat record today......then dropping into 70's tomorrow........

The only urge I feel coming on is the 'fall panic mode'....for all the stuff I didn't get done in the yard/garden this year.......and I still have plants to plant.....plants to move......still harvesting.........YIKES!!!! I need a bunch of little garden gnomes HELPING me!!!

frugal franny i hear ya!! i am so behind in getting things done. my neighbor gave me about 100 gladiola bulbs two days ago....dh started planting a few today before it started raining...having a yard/craft sale next sat. i need to make some more fall florals ...FAST!!....have to seed both sides of new (last year) driveway.....just have ugly weeds now....was waiting for fall and the heat to leave........AHHHH!!! SO MUCH TO DO!! i am preserving so much stuff from the garden........i think it is all my new pups fault.....we are getting nothing done....just playing and loving them.....lol dh and i were just saying that....the summer flew by and our yard is so neglected this year. we barely maintained what we had. lol our neighbors that don't know about the pups are probably wondering what is up with us.....our yard usually gets a lot of compliments. NOT THIS YEAR!!

on the other hand............i just love fall just a very busy time of year.

I feel it to. It is cool here and some of the leaves have started to change. I am organizing cupboards this weekend while DD is visiting her dad. Digging out our sweaters and warm socks. Heck I am evening wearing a sweater here in my basement apartment. Yesturday and the day before I caught up on all the yard work for my mom. DD has already started to ask when we make her halloween costume, and school starts on Tuesday.

For the time being I envy you northerners. I won't envy you in the depths of winter, but right now...with the summer HEAT in Vegas...I envy you.

Well sitting here tonight trying to keep warm...yes, it does feel like it is time to settle in for the winter. I hope we still get some warm days of which I am sure we will but the days are already getting shorter, some of the leaves are changing and the smell is in the air!
