I'm with Tater on this! If they like country music, it's time to get Wagner out--six hours of "The Ring", anyone? How about Don Ho--"Tiny Bubbles" can't be as bad as a Beagle's bay! AC/DC? DEF Leppard? Avenge Sevenfold?
How about an all-night party with your favorite good ol' boy friends? You can try target shooting in the dark (by Braille?) Jim Beam, anyone?
Don't forget to repair you car. You MUST test it by revving the engine...repeatedly...ad naseum.
How about a cheer leader camp for a few nights? The girls have to practice their cheers somewhere!
Get creative. Have fun.GET EVEN.

It is funny to imagine ways to torture the neighbors with epic sessions of banjo picking music with the volume cranked up to 11, but I think that will just up the ante and she'll have more than a barking dog to contend with.

While I agree that torturing them would be a lot of fun, they would NOT take it well and that would just be bad for my family. They had an actual shooting war with the people who lived here before us and I have kids to think of. They are mean and nasty people and I won't put my kids in danger because of them. Not to mention all the fun the things I could do to make noise would just keep my kids up all night LOL!

Wouldn't work here. This isn't a neighborhood where you can just step outside and throw a bone over the fence into the neighbor's yard. They are 1/4 mile down the road. I'd have to get up, nuke the bone, get in the car and drive to their property line, get out and open the gate, get back in, drive on down to the house and probably get shot in the process! Not to mention I'd be wide awake by the time I got home!

I would write an article in the local newspaper on irresponsible dog owner and neighbors. If that doesn't help keep bugging the police they'll get tired of you calling and have to do something about the problem.

For a while there, I thought you might be one of my neighbours. It sounded like you were describing the dog-barking action a few houses down our block. But since you don't live in town, I'll give you one more bit of advice.
EARPLUGS!
I have a large set of little orange sponge earplugs which I bought at Home Hardware just so I could sleep better at nights. You know...the neighbours all night parties, teens squealing their tires, dogs barking, radios blaring. With these earplugs, you just squish the end that goes into your ears (with clean hands), plug your ears, and the sponge expands and blocks out the sound. It's quite effective; in fact, in order to hear your alarm in the morning, you have to turn the sound almost all the way up.
That might help, and you'd get some sleep, and feel better.
It's so blooming annoying to listen to Yappity, Snarler, Woofer, Howler, Yipper and Wailer all night long, so maybe earplugs might help.
Here's hoping!

You poor thing. I know what it's like to lose sleep over disrespectful neighbors and your problem sounds chronic.
What is wrong with people?!
I bought a CD from this company a few years ago and it saved my life as I had a neighbor who would play music outside late at night sometimes when I had to work in the early AM. I got the "soothing air conditioner" Put it in my little boom box with the bass boost and it drowns out quite a lot. Not everything though but it will muffle a lot of sound so it does not bother you.
To me it was worth the money and I even want to buy a couple more for back up.
