Default We talked about fall in another post.....

are there things you really need to get done before winter hits your area?

I need to get a few more things stockpiled like toilet paper, yeast and dried beans.

I need to get my flower beds cleaned out.

I need to get the house all cleaned up and organized so when I'm home all winter I won't go mad in the clutter LOL.

We will have to get the outdoor woodstove cranked up and I need to get a new filter for it soon.

I need to get the A/C unit out of the kitchen window.

    I have to:

    1) close the pool ( that will be done sometime the week of the 14th)
    2) clean up the raised garden beds
    3) turn the soil in them and around my blackberry bushes so I can plant raspberry bushes next spring near them.
    4) find the snow shovels ( where ever hubby stuck them lol)
    5) rearrange the kitchen counters so that the appliances I use the most during the cold season is out and available
    6) get 5-6 bales of straw for the pup's dog box and for the cat's boxes ( they're all outside critters so they need this to stay warm)
    7) move all the junk thats sitting near and around the pellet stove ( where does this stuff come from?!)
    8) clean up all the potted plants and store the pots.
    9) repot some of the herbs and bring them in for the bay window for the winter

thats all I can think of right now. I'm sure theres more lol there always is

Need to add MUCH to my stockpile. Winters are very cold and snow is deep here.(3 feet!?!) I don't relish the idea of going to the store on a snowmobile. My plan is to not have to go at all, for 3 months.

We have to get a lot more wood cut and in the woodshed. The gas company can't get back to the cabin very easily, especially when the road is snowy. So we'll need wood for heat, maybe cooking.

DH will need to do maintenance on his backhoe, so it's in good shape to plow the snow.

Need to get that 'one more' delivery of gas before the snow flies, as back-up.

DH is going to put some more insulation in the crawl space to keep the cold out.

last but not least----Have my 3 pair of footed fleece PJ's (with the back flap)ready and waiting. I look like a dork in them, but I am WARM. LOL! And I am knitting lots of socks and sweaters.

Great thread, I was thinking of things I need to get done. Fall is my busy season at work, so by the end of September, I have to be prepared to work 6 days a week and 10 hour days.

~I have to clean up the flower beds in the back of the house.
~Go through recipes and find some new soup and casserole recipes. I like to cook on Sundays one casserole and one soup to last me through the week, makes it much easier!
~Make sure I have everything needed to make Christmas gifts.

That's a start for me. I'll add more as I come up with them!

    2. get straw for things around here
    3. finish making Christmas gifts
    4. finish getting plow truck ready
    5. deep-clean all carpets
    6. close and insulate kitchen vent

Mine is outside stuff and after today should be able to make a dent in it...it has been too hot.

    Have three peonies to plant,
take a chance and plant some new grass,
want to move a minature lilac,
    final weeding done,
and around first of Oct. do fall fertilizing of lawn,
roll up all hoses and put away,
move three bird baths to protected area or into garage.

Was hoping to areate the lawn but that just ain't going to happen!
