9/11/01 8 years later
As a military spouse I can't let this day pass without mentioning it. I've already had cause to drive on base and have seen at lease a dozen American flags at half-staff.
Pardon me if this was posted elsewhere and I missed it. I did look for a 9/11 thread and couldn't find one.
8 years ago today we were stationed in Stuttgart, Germany and I was 7 mo. pg. with my 1st child. My neighbor and I were watching AFN (Armed Forces Network) and chatting and it switched to a live shot of CNN or NBC and we saw the 2nd plane hit the WTC. Being that our husbands are in the Air Force we knew at that moment that we were no longer a peace time military. My child would be born with a father gearing up for war. Needless to say it rocked me to the core. Once the Pentagon was hit moments later we (the post) went into full lock down. We were overseas and a high threat target. We had only had drills at that level and had never lived at that threat level. For months that was our lives...
I morn all lost in NYC, D.C., and in Shanksville. I also morn the loss of our innocence from that moment on. I morn the loss of our military members in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
As a military spouse I will never forget. Our family was forever changed that day. My husband has served and will continue to served when his country calls.

Well I guess we all rememeber where we were on that day I was working for a japenese tool company in Nj we had the radio on and heard the news I remember calling Brooklyn about 50 times before we could get thru to ask where my brother was he is a inspector for for NY When the pentagon was hit we closed and I went home and watched TV like everyone else. Life has never been quite the same since 9/11 We lost our innocence that day but thankfully we have been okay since I do not always agree with politics but someone is doing something right in the war on terror as we have been spared futher heart ache God bless all the men and women who stand on a wall and say nothing is going to hurt you at least not on my watch. I salute all of you and all that you do to keep America safe

To me, 9/11 is always a day to let those you love know exactly how you feel. My brother in law was in the towers when they were hit. He got away with seconds to spare before his tower fell. Literally seconds.
So, just remember how very precious life is and that it can change in an instant, without any warning. So, never let an opportunity go by to let people know how you feel about them.My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

I was at work and evidently the only one listening to what was being said on the radio. I walked up stairs in total disbelief and saw the owner and the plant manager in the foremans office. I guess I looked like I was sick because they both asked if I felt ok. I told them what I just heard and they thought it was a joke. It didn't take long for them to see it was no joke. I just think it is sad that it was something as horrific as 9/11 to bring us together as one nation. We should never forget that day and how it changed our lives forever. Thank God for our military families and the sacrifices they make on our behalf.

I think of today as the day that my baby boy was born. Things happen in life and well, a loss of life is something that comes to pass. But the pure joy in today is all of the lives that were born and are able to carry on new traditions, mannerisms and attitudes about the world around them.
People need to look to the future if they're going to truly heal from something that's directly affected them. To me, people are only looking in the past and dwelling on something that they really can't control.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!
