I think all of my karma's been spent (long).
My mom was in town for the last week, hence my lack of presence around here. I've been here, but not really "here"... if you know what I mean.

I feel like I sort of fell off the wagon a bit while she was here, but I really didn't. I kind of had one leg in and was being dragged while hanging upside down from the side of the wagon while careening out of control.
For the most part, we went out and did things that were frugal to me but then I also felt pressured to spend money while she was here. Then again, it was DS6's birthday on Thursday and a lot of what I bought was for that specific occasion. I got his ice cream cake because DS11 can't eat a gluten-filled cake and plus, we did the ice cream cake for both DS6's birthday last week and my birthday on Thursday. I also bought him one big gift that he absolutely loved instead of wasting money on things he wouldn't really want to play with at all, so that was my goal for this year as well. We ate a lot of meals at home and on his birthday, we went to the park. It was originally going to be the zoo, but it was closed for one of the two days out of the entire year, so the park was a next logical choice. The kids got out for some exercise (and the adults too), fresh air and lots of pretty scenery.
The only unfrugal part of the whole thing was dinner. I think FIL spent about $100 on dinner for the six of us, which makes me cringe just thinking about it. I think that was about the only unfrugal thing we did the entire time. I did get to take my mom out to lunch and that was really nice because I didn't get to do that last year, plus I planned on spending money while she was here anyways. My checking account and credit cards are in check, plus I paid off the Mastercard charges for the present, the trip to the whole foods place and the lunch that we had out. I still have $50 left in savings, which will stay there.
So I guess I didn't do so bad, but I could have done better.
Oh! The computer thing...
my computer died.
Like, died as in I couldn't boot it. The BIOS wouldn't beep, which means that something was failing to load and in turn, the computer wouldn't load. The end result?
I inherited DH's computer.
To be fair, my PC had parts in it that you could have made three whole other computers out of. DH bought a really cheap laptop to substitute for the switch, so we were prepared for something like that to happen. We had started a computer replacement fund at the beginning of the year for this and well, the fund is now officially depleted.
I hope all of the karma is spent because I can't handle any more of it. It's driving me nuts!Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

I really don't think you did that bad. Computers die, mothers visit and budgets deplete
at least you anticipated both!
