I can't believe the price of canned fruit!
the price at Adli's 15oz is .89 a can...Walmart's is $1.47 for Del Monte...I have been waiting what seems like months and months to stockup on on these..
Finally Shoprite has a deal going on buy 10/ $7.77 Del Monte (any) fruit 15oz to 15.25oz.. I thought that was still high until I checked the other store prices and this seems to be the best deal...I broke down and bought 40 cans...but cripes I remember getting it for .50 a can BRAND name...
I guess those days are gone..

I haven't seen the regular size cans (20oz) for less than 79c in a loooong time. Aldi's is 79c. Their little cans of mandarin oranges are 39c.

I aim for less than a buck when I buy canned fruit. Commissary is up to 1.40 for certain varieties, and walmart has them for about a buck here. I wish I had an aldi's.

Last week Kroger had Dole 15 oz tropical fruit for 1.00, and with a coupon it made them about .75 if I bought two. It's the only canned fruit I have bought in a long time. Two cans of fruit - not exactly stellar stockpiling, is it? It is really high. I'll stretch it with jello!

Dillons has been having GREAT sales on canned fruit for several weeks, so I've been stocking up.....until this week when the price skyrocketed!
Aldi mandarin oranges are 45-cents here, and Kroger brand has been running an all-time low of 44-cents.
I sometimes find good buys on canned goods at Big Lots.

We love fruit too. Especially canned peaches. Walmart and Ingles sell canned fruit for $1.25-1.29. Save a lot has them for .97cents.
My mom found the big cans for .99cents a can. She got 10 for us. As soon as I see a good deal I will buy at least 20 cans or more.Truck paid off 12/07(paid in full)

It's nearly $2/can up here. Fresh produce is expensive, though...so...it's comparable.

I guess Canada isn't alone then in the canned fruit cost department. It's crazy here. I'd sooner buy a 6lb bag of apples and make homemade applesauce for the cost of a small jar here.
We don't eat a lot of canned anything anymore, especially after we changed diets. I don't even eat canned soup anymore; it's all freshly made.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

This is something I need to stock up on for winter and it's high here too. We really prefer fresh but there is only one little store in my immediate area and the produce there is horrible. Even my dh was commenting today on how horrible the peppers looked and that the tomatoes were rotten! It's hard for me to get out to a bigger town in witner. We eat alot of apples and bananas and I add in some canned fruit every now and then.

My preference is not for the canned stuff. But the frozen fruit I can do and have made things with it that weren't bad at all.
Our stores here have been having some 'decent' sales on the frozen stuff for the items that are currently coming on fresh. (IE: they have had the berries and now peaches on sale in the frozen section because the fresh stuff was out there.) Noticed the applesauce is starting to come on sale this week.

Yeah, I know what you mean! The only fruit that I buy (other than fresh) is no-sugar added applesauce which is pretty cheap at $1.80 something for a 50 oz. jar.
