How's your EF coming?
Thought I ought to get around to figuring out my EF. So, I've updated it. It's also my car repair fund, and I do have some car repairs that need done, but it's up to date as of the time of this posting.
I'd like to have much more than what it's got, in case of something big happening...

Mine will take a while to build up. Lately there have been necessities that are needed.

Ours is not being built up quite as fast as I'd like it to because we have to hold back some money for surgery that my DD has to have soon. Hopefully, we'll start adding again in a month or so.

I am happy just to have an EF that is growing - so when we need to use it it will be there. Just updated ours two days ago. Glad that I set it up for automatic withdrawals from checking account - always works best for me!!

~We have a six month, all living expenses EF. But I'm pretty sure we'll have to dip into it this month to pay for oral surgery. It should be built up again by the end of the year though.~

Thank goodness for EF - that it's there when we need it!!
Nuisance - great job in getting your EF so well established!!
I am still glad that I have it done automatically. I am working on other savings programs where I am responsible for making deposits. I don't know where I mentioned it, but my dentist, physical therapy and massage therapy are on the same floor of the same building - so I joined the credit union in the same location. For every visit I make to any of those I pay myself $10. Figure I am paying myself for taking care of me!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

Don't really need an EF, have no debt of any kind. Including house. I'll just call mine the safe and sound fund, bank can't make any charges anymore
UMM thought I had a problem yesterday, car wouldn't start. Aw just cleaned the battery post and it works like a charm. Hey if you can fix just about anything, it helps

Good choice Charles...Enjoy the lumpy mattress and know BA hasn't got their hands in your pockets anymore. They even go for the lint that's in them.
Ex sister in law used to hide hers in the back yard in jars. She had a map. I used to think she was crazy...Yeah, crazy like a fox.Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

I use the $1 bill savings method to fund what we call the Emergency Fund/Christmas Fund. Although Christmas gift buying ($10-gift limits in our family) was done many months ago, we use anything over $1,000 in this account for Christmas donations to our favorite organizations. We have 6-months socked away for a fully-funded emergency fund, but we keep the $1 bill account going all year long.
By saving my $1 bills and putting them into this savings account each month, I've never saved less than $600, and as much as $1,000 for the year. Add to that the $20/month I budget and pay myself to cut my own hair ($240/year), garage sale money, and any other "found" money (collecting aluminum cans, rebates, etc.), all goes into this account.
We use cash for most of our daily purchases, so if you use credit/debit cards/checks, the $1 bill savings method may not work as well for you.
