Default A brag and a whine in the same post....

Dh is being promoted to Sargent Major. Its great it really is BUT there is alot that is coming with that. First he will get pinned sometime between Oct and June of next yr. We wont know that for a little while. Then his new post is in San Antonio. He has to report in January. Yds and I are staying here as he is a senior in h.s. After the hoildays and dh leaves, I will have to deal with trying to sell the house. Yds is trying to decide whether he is coming with us or not. Ods will be going into his senior yr of college when I leave next summer ( if the house sells) so he will not be coming with us. I understand that but its upsetting to me to think I am going to be over 1000 miles away from him.
In the meantime we are doing LOTS of work to the house to make it more sellable. New kitchen counters, new garage roof, fixed up the main bathroom, widened the front door, new paint thru out etc.
When all is said and done we will have dropped about $7,500 into the house.
We are trying to sell dh's Harley. He thinks he might have it sold to another soldier for $5,500 so that will help ofset some of the $$$ we have spent on the house.
Dh has to go in January and he has been in touch with the post there. They dont have Geographical Bacholor quarters which means dh will have to rent a small apt until I get there. Which means we will be paying a mortgage and a rent. Again. Just like when he went to the SGM academy.
Besides all of that I really dont want to move. I dont want to live in the heat again. I dont like it but I dont really have a choice.
Well thanks for lettimg me rant and brag. It is really a good thing that dh is being promoted and when we will be together again and not putting out $$$$$$ the raise will be nice. Its just in the meantime....

Understand the pangs of "I'm proud of my DH, but I don't want to go" - change is never easy - and it's especially hard to be away from our children - who are growing up and are no longer children. You will get through this (as you know) - and it will all turn out okay!! Let us know how you are doing in the process!!
Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

Congrats to your DH and welcome to San Antonio. (Even though you're not looking forward to moving.) I don't blame you, I've never been one to enjoy picking up and moving to a new place.

Wonderful promotion for your hubby but I understand how you feel about moving. It will all work out in the end.
