Frugal Tropical Island Wedding
Hi, I joined this forum in hopes that someone can answer some questions for me.
Is it possible to have a frugal ($500 or less)....but nice wedding ceremony on a Carnival cruise ship or off the ship on a beach somewhere?
Does anyone know if it's possible for a couple to get married on cruise ship without buying one of the wedding packages they offer? I really can't see paying the prices of their wedding packages when it would just be 5 people....including the bride & groom....and a 6 yr old child. Not to mention the bride isn't old enough to drink. So, no need for champagne.
TIA!

WOW !! I can help with this one!
I live in the Virgin Islands, St.Thomas
Carnival docks here all the time, yes you can get off the ship go to the court house and get your license.
I was married on a beach in my back yard and the "Minister" was only $150. .
Please fell free to e-mail me and I can help with the court house and the application which has to be filed 30 days in advance I think it can be down loaded but if not I can stop and pick up the forms.
Ohh I love weddings!!!!

Are you talking about a $500 wedding ceremony, or are you wanting the whole cruise for $500 or less per person?
Carnival offers some great cabin rates, but I have found that after you add airfare to the port, taxes, mandatory tips, and all that the price goes up a LOT.Use it up, Wear it out,

Angrypuppy and I took a Carnival Cruise down in the Caribbean and our first port of call was Key West. We made reservations with a little seaside chapel a few weeks prior to our cruise. Our parents met us there, we walked to the court house (only a few blocks from the dock), got all of the required paperwork, walked down to the chapel, said our vows and walked across the street to have lunch. We were back on the boat before dinnertime.
It was a very simple, but beautiful service. Our minister wore khaki's & a golf type shirt

Marriage Application fee is $25.00- see link
License fee is $25.00
Use this link to get the form needed http://weddingstheislandway.com/forms.html, But dont use this company they are expensive, and the "Minister" wears white!! Only the bride should wear white.
Minister Bill Arnett ( He did my marriage) 340-779-1607 or 340-775-9009
You may be able to get flowers from the ship but the "Best" Flower shop is actually right next to the dock and its called Blooming Things 340-775-0373.
I have to find my friend who is also a taxi driver, "Tiny" and get his number for you.
This should get you started, do you know the date? will you be stopping in St.Thomas at all? I unfortunately cant help with other islands, I havent been married on them.!
Good Luck!Katie ~ Mummy of 2
