Had to turn the heat on!
My gosh it's cold here in WV this week! I got up yesterday morning and about froze! It was 45 degrees and windy. This morning it's even cooler and the wind is howling. I made dh build a fire in the outdoor woodstove last night so we could warm up the house this morning. It feels nice to have it on, but it's the start of a long winter!
Have you had to use your heat yet??S

Hubby turned the outside wood furnace on Sept 11. Just puts in a log or two. No big fire. But house is warm, and all the hot water I want.
We save about $ 30 a month on the electric bill when the OWB is running and going through the hot water heater exchanger.
I figure $ 600 a year for our wood, buying log length and hubby cutting it. It has been a wet summer here. First part of September it was so nice, and now we are getting lots of rain again. Most of the week. And temps are a lot cooler also. A cold rainy day keeps me in the house. I don't even want to run errands.
We bought a second 100 pound propane tank ( 24 gallons) and just had it filled. Not sure how long a tank lasts us, but just over 5 months on the first one so far. For the kitchen stove only. Now I won't worry so much when I want to do some baking. Will warm up the kitchen nicely

Put the frog in pot, turn up the heat real slow, and the frog doesn't hop out. And by the time he realizes, he should , it's too late... think about it.

Not yet, but I think we may build a fire tonight. It is cold, windy and rainy in NW PA. We have been heating up the heating pads you put in the microwave and sticking them between the blankets before we go to bed. I think the lowest it has gotten down to is 43 degrees - but with the rain it seems so cold and damp.

The chill is in the air this morning in NC as well, no heat yet, but the sweat pants came out of hiding this morning! We also heat with wood outside, as well as heating our hot water, so the smoke will soon start rolling!
Happy Tuesday to all

No heat, but I'd like to. I had to dig warmer jackets out for the kids. A windbreaker just won't cut it. And 5yo got out her warm tights to put on with her dress.

It's 39°F here in central Kansas this morning. No heat necessary YET! We're the last people to turn the heat on. We did have to find our warm hoodies when we went walking a 4:45 a.m. Luckily it wasn't windy.

No heat yet. We've gotten down in the low 30s over night a couple times, but we just turn on our heated mattress pads. All the windows are closed, but we still have a couple of window A/C units in and the storm windows have to be put on.
It's a little chilly, but with sweatpants, long sleeves & slippers it's comfy. Besides, it's warmer in my house now than it would be even if the furnace was one. It's 65F in here and the thermostat is set at 62F.

The heat ran off and on all last night. We hit 30F overnight and it was cold! The winds are gusting up to 50 miles an hour so it makes a big difference as our house sits on a hill with NO protection around it. The highs this week are only suppose to be in the low 50's so fall is definitely here!

I did turn the heat on about a week ago. Just for a little bit. It was really cold and damp. Well, now my furnace has been tested. I was just thinking how you can feel the cold weather settling in on my walk. So I will be enjoying as much as I can being able to walk around without freezing!!!

No heat here in Southern Arizona. Was 107 yesterday and it's to be 105 today . . .So, sadly, AC is still running.

we've gotten down to 34, maybe a little lower. It froze my garden...kind of glad. I haven't turned on the furnace yet, but probably in a couple of days when the highs are in the 50's and raining.

No heat here yet. We went from 80ish degree weather to 63 degree highs the span of one day. We've switched to long sleeves and pants, Wesley is in his flannel jammers at night.
