Don't you hate it when you misplace something...
you search the entire house, and come up empty?
That's me!
I spent time tonight (about two hours worth) looking for the kids cold weather gear. Well, it's nowheres to be found. I have searched every room of the house at least three or four times and looked under/over/inside/behind EVERYTHING, but I still can't find the stuff!
This sucks because I had a TON of cold weather gear saved up. I even crawled under the landing in the basement and went through every single box but I can't find it.

What do you do when you can't find something that you know you have, but everywhere you have looked turns up absolutely nothing?Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

What do I do? I ask my DH if he were being "helpful" again. He likes to "help" me by getting rid of my stuff.
Do whatever He tells you.

This might sound corny, but try to visualize! What kind of container is it in? Cardboard box? Plastic tub? Garbage bag? Try to go back and remember any little detail of when you stashed it. Hopefully this will spark something. I usually give up and run right into whatever I was looking for!

MTTB - know just what you mean and I'm sure we are not alone!!
Minner77 has a good point - I'm 'fortunate' to have DD and DH who help me out.
Dogwalker79 - great idea!! Hope it helps MTTB.
Let us know when you find the cold weather stuff - I have faith that you will!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

This happens because things go the place where they cant be found they stay there awile and then come back You may think Im crazy but I cant tell you how many times I have searched for things nly to have them be there a day or 2 later. Take a glass turn it upside down on a counter and say out loud what your looking for and you will find it. An old woman told me about this and when I lost the diamond out of my engagement ring I was desparate and I tried it I found the diamond the next day outside in the parking lot on the ground by my car I swear its the truth She called the glass thing a bubbameister lol

I sit down in the big blue chair with a cup of coffee and a snack. Then I turn on something completely mindless on TV and relax. It will usually hit when I quite thinking about it or start looking for something else.

I usually stop looking for a while, after a while, a few days or maybe less, it usually 'hits' me and I know where it is.
I am very terrible for putting things up so they "won't get lost" HA and then I loose them lol.Kelly

Usually I start getting frantic thinking I just had it x days ago. Then I sit down and do something else. Usually find it when doing something else and think oh yea that is where I put it.
Which is why I like having a place for everything. Sometimes I can just be tooooo organized.

I am so going to test this out if it happens again.
So I decided to go downstairs and look again. I figured my brain had reset a little, so I took a look and sure enough, it was in one of the boxes underneath the wooden shelving unit. I didn't think they were in there because when I opened the box, it was boots and shoes. I dug further down and found it all!
This was after I went to Superstore and bought all new stuff.
Ahhh well, I'll keep the stuff and use it when the kids outgrow the stuff they have from last year. I also discovered a bag of recyclables in the fray too, so that's another bag I can get rid of.

I am a complete scatterbrain, I lose everything. Usually because I can't remember what I'm doing from one minute to the next. I end up putting things down in strange places because I can't remember why I'm there or why something is in my hand.
I keep my house as empty as possible so there are fewEr places to hide. When I can't find something, I stop looking and start cleaning. Eventually it gets uncovered.
If the kids haven't worn the new stuff already, you should just return it, that way you don't have to go looking for it next year

I'm in the same boat but the Dollar value is quite a bit higher. I put my jewelry in a "Safe" place when we had the last hurricane warning I didnt want to get robed or have the house looted if we had to evacuate. Well I am still trying to find that safe place which is currently hiding my engagement ring (told dh it was too big so he wouldnt ask where it was) and some other high end jewelry baubles that have been showered on me in the past. Uggh!! I know they will show up in the next few weeks with the move but its annoying that my mind is like a sive!
Glad you found the gear and cold weather is coming!
I will keep the glass trick in mind for next time!Katie ~ Mummy of 2

And, wouldn't you know it, you find it in the last place you look. ('Cause, once you find it, you don't look anymore!
)
I loose things, too. Things I don't want to loose. Can't loose things I want to loose, like excess pounds.... grrrr.

You made my day! I have been looking for my work pants for 2 weeks now. I take a break and continue looking the next day after I get home from work and make dinner. I also hope when I'm cleaning on the weekends I'll "come across" them. I may be wearing the same 2 pair of pants all winter long. Haha.
