Default Do you feel more frugal at certain times

    of the year?
I do. I always feel "most frugal" in the fall.
When the air starts getting cool, I have visions of Amy Dacyzyn in her big farm house with the leaves changing colors.
I just love that feeling. Probably sounds strange to some, but, every year I get the same feeling. All warm & fuzzy inside.
I just love the frugal life.

I usually start feeling more frugal at the beginning of the month - of a new season, and I'm much more successful when I plan and write things down!!

I've re-newed my frugal spirit of recent, and I think it's because a year ago in the month of October I learned about the frugal lifestyle and found Frugal Village.

I usually feel more frugal after I have filled in the numbers for the budget each month.
Then I think, I can do better and then I really get the frugal mindset.

I just wrote in another thread that in the fall I tend to start squirreling away. I have this need to stockup for the winter since without a car getting to stores is more difficult. So I have been thinking about all the different types of dried fruit and nuts I want to stockup on. Just so I am ready for a really horrible winter if it decides to show up. Mind you there is a CVS about 200 meters from me. LOL

But it is that prepared for winter feeling that makes me feel comfortable.

I know exactly what you mean frugal me! I've worked hard all summer growing and then preserving our garden and it's in the pantry and I feel so good knowing it's there for the winter. I love cold weather. It just makes me fell happy for some reason LOL I dunno why. Guess if I was treading water and fretting about money I wouldn't be feeling the same way huh? Must be because we're frugal and we're ready for the season

Autumn does the same thing to me . I start nesting... wanting to spend more time hunkering down, staying at home by the fireplace. This is a great time of year!

Hmmmmm, good question! I think I have a tendency to be more frugal when the weather is cooler. I think it could be in anticipation of how our utility costs seem to skyrocket during the fall and winter months!

The beginning of fall for me too. I start "nesting", insulating, turning things off, storing up food, kknitting.

I think I also feel more frugal then because I play the game.."how long can I go without turning on the heat."

In the fall and winter here! In Sept. I stop working full time and go to three days a week until the end of Oct. So that's less driving for me, less packing lunches, etc. Then starting Nov. 1 I am laid off until April 1. So I am home most days. I am cooking more and using less fast food options. I am baking breads and goodies. I am driving much less!

I feel much more frugal in the fall and winter.
The summers here are too hot & humid to turn the air conditioner off.
But I have no problem keeping the heat off (or very low) and putting on a sweater, building a fire, etc.

I guess I'm strange. I find the fall and winter my least frugal. I always want to stockpile in the fall, which means excessive shopping and spending, whereas in the summer I can't bear the thought of wasting a beautiful day at the grocery store. We just do without.

It's cold, so the heat is always on, I've got the kettle going half the day, and I take longer, hotter showers.

More clothes means more laundry - and done in the dryer instead on the clothesline.

We eat more, we turn the lights on earlier, we pay for museums instead of going to free parks. Less sunlight means less energy for me, and I get less done.

Spring is my most frugal time, lots of energy, overwhelming urge to purge instead of buy, and ready for a fresh start.

For me it is fall. I start baking more, start hunkering down for a long, cold winter and don't leave the house unless I absolutely have to which saves money. Also deer season starts soon and we will have a freezer full of meat for the year.
