No raise for DH afterall. :(
DH had his review the other day and well, due to the recession there is no raise incoming. This is the first time in seven years that he's had no raise. He told his boss that in any other situation, he might be ok with it but he's been busting his hide at work to get things done.
So then his boss tells him that the position being vacated in November by his supervisor is not being filled at all... which was supposed to be filled by DH.
However, there is a bright lining to this dark cloud!
The money that was being paid to the supervisor is going to give DH's boss some leverage to have that given to DH or at least a partial amount of it. I'm not getting my hopes up or counting on it at all because when you think something is happening, it really isn't happening at all.
Toronto's office laid off 70 people so DH can count his blessings that he still has a job. It just sucks because we'd really hoped we could get ahead. I guess that'll have to wait.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

~I know how you feel! Dh's workplace just told all its' employees that there would be no raises this year. That's a first in the thirteen years the place has existed.
I've expected this all year from the way things were going with the economy and events at the regional management level.
Dh was quite upset about it since he always works above and beyond as well. He spent almost 3 months working in North Jersey this year, commuting back and forth to move operations from one plant to another. He's taken on the responsibilities of a supervisor but without a promotion or increase in pay.
I'm just grateful that it hasn't come to pay cuts yet. We still have insurance coverage and matching 401K so we can weather this out.
Hopefully your husband's company will rebound enough during the next year or two that the company can give retroactive raises.~~Constance

Sorry to hear that. DH didn't get a COLA raise this year. He works for the state of CA and we have furlough days that have cut our pay about 17%.
It stinks, but we are thankful he still has a job. We have many relatives in construction and they have been without a job for nearly a year. Construction has almost come to a halt out here. Hopefully things will pick back up.

What a bummer MTTB........sorry!
Hang in there and be glad that he is working......many people aren't. Think positive......maybe he will get some of the 'unspecified' money from the job not filled.

I am also sending good vibes that your dh will get "mega" money incentives for work done!

That really is a "downer"! But hang in there, it truly could be alot worse. It's good to hear you still counting your blessings though. You have your priorities in order, for sure!
Hope things will go his way on that money being given out!

We are living in rough economic times. Things are not normal as we were used to them being.
You need to step back a few steps and look at the bigger picture. Your hubby is really lucky to still have his job if 70 other people just got laid off. It sounds like he is a hard worker and it would seem that in the future, that he would get a pay raise again.
Around here , there are job freezes so if someone retires or leaves a job, then that job is not getting filled currently.
Layoffs still happening. My son just got laid off from his job along with 7 other people. This is the 3rd round of layoff where he worked. He said if the economy does not pick up, there is a chance, that, that factory will close by the end of the year. They have another factory in a different state and would merge the two.
We all just have to keep on ,keeping on, and count our positives. There always will be a few speed bumps in the road.--------My signature--------
The economy is now uncharted waters... grab a oar and start rowing. ~~
Put the frog in pot, turn up the heat real slow, and the frog doesn't hop out. And by the time he realizes, he should , it's too late... think about it.

Where I work, we took a 5% pay cut last month, and now we have a team of people being laid off at the end of this month. I may be one of the lucky ones, they keep telling me they will find work for me.
