complication in going back to work...LONG
Hi
i was let go in april, i went home with strep throat. i got a call the next morning from hr asking how i was and then she said she didnt really call to see how i was but to terminate me...i said for what? and she said that was her question as well and all she got was me missing time and she admitted that that this new management guy mumbled about me being late, me not working up to par, and me missing time...well i had just been promoted. i was just told that my last 2 month reports were execellent..but as usual the boss that hired me and worked well with me was let go and then i get this new guy who never really liked me for some reason and i was told he didnt like me..he never said if i was doing something wrong the only time he said something to me was working faster on the invoices and the only reason i was working a bit slower was to make it last all day because the company was NOT paying the invoices and all we were getting were demand letters...the company was laying off alot of people at the time.. i always get a good job and then management changes and im screwed..well i had missed a few days because the babysitters mother died and she took a week off i had to find a new baby sitter and then they got sick a few weeks later and then i got the strep throat..the week they let me go we were closing on our first house so needless to say we lost that.
any how ..the unemployment is running out and i need a job...and i think i really have some interest coming back but i have some issues...even if i get 12.00 and hour thats 480.00 a week but childcare is 280.00, taxes, gas, healthcare (we dont have any) i will be in the hole...how do people do this and make money to pay bills..child care eats the whole paycheck...plus when i was working i was soooo stressed out...i was up at 5:3 dropped the kids off at 7 at work at 8 leave at 5 at the kids at 6 home at 6:30 then i had dinner, cooking, bed for the kids, bath times, cleaning i was exhausted!! and there just wasnt enough time in the day i dont know how people do it
any thoughts or advice??

You really need to do the math and find out if it pays to go to work 2 kids in daycare is really expensive You are making it now iwth unemployment how much are you getting ? You need to find a way to lower your expenses close to that amt. and cut back way back or find some part time work when your husband can watch the kids. Good luck I know its tough

Check with the unemployment office. This was extended at the state/federal ( whichever ) level. All told now it can be up to I believe 59 weeks. Maybe 72 if the last one went thru also. You may have a reprieve.
Check on babysitting for others. Sounds like you would mae more with taking care of one kid than working.Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. is there anyone who can watch your kids for less money? If I had to pay a day care center I would be at a loss too. Luckily I have a friend who watches my son for a few hours every afternoon and hardly charges me anything. She is a true blessing to me.
good luck!Judy

Could you find a home daycare provider for cheaper? I run an in home daycare, and the children in my care get just as much education (if not more) than a center. Plus, they get more one-on-one attention.

I just finished tier 1 which is the firt 20 weeks. I am now on tier 2 which is 7 weeks. After that is EB ( extended benefits ) of 20 weeks. This is total of 47 weeks ( obviously, sorry )
After that is another I believe 20 at the state or federal level if the unemployment level is at 9 or 10 % in the state. This is what my unemployment lady told me couple weeks ago. So that is 47 for sure and possibly another 20. There was also another round that went thru and I do believe passed for another 20 weeks. Again, depending on unemployment level in your state.
So possibly 87 weeks.Get on your website for your state. Or if you have an office make an appointment and talk to them. You need to know how long you have. Just common sense.Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. You have a lot to think about. I agree that you need to check your benefits to know exactly where you stand. Seems like it would not pay you to go back to work at this time with the high cost of child care. It would seem that a good idea would be to offer childcare in your own home and make some extra money that way. However, if your child is on the wild side, then it may be difficult to find parents who are willing to let their child stay. Keep us posted with what you decide and what you find out.

You're on unemployment - you're at home making no income - and...
You are paying for childcare?
WHAT?
Yeah, I read your rationale for it - but you are home! Who can do a better job training your kids in how to behave in a way you feel is appropriate than you?
Really, really confused by the "logic" here...If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"
