Sorry it's been so long...
I know I've been mia - but we just got our computer back. No, I lie. They sent the computer back weeks ago, with the hard drive in a ziplock marked "defective" and a note saying that the new hard drive would arrive in 3 business days.
After 4, Dh called and said it didn't. They sent it out again "that day", then over the next weekend, we got an automated message with the tracking number because then it was sent out <sigh>
It came, Dh put it in, and we're back again. We (by "we" I mean DH, because if it were me it may have come across as a federal offense of some kind...) called and told them how unhappy we were about the whole situation (hello, only had the lap top for 3 months and it took a month to get it deemed as being covered by warranty, get the part to have to fix it ourselves!!) They appologized, and offered to "allow" him to purchase an extended warranty. Yeah, like that's gonna happen. When this puppy dies, that's it, we're done with Del.

Glad you got your computer up and working and you made it back.
I resemble your remark about the federal offense. Hehehe. They couldn't give us a Dell, my MIL had one several years ago and had nothing but grief with it.

Welcome back Indigo.........we missed you!
I SOOOOOOO TOTALLY AGREE about the Dell thing........I wouldn't have one even long enough to SELL IT as I would be afraid the person I sold it too would come back and haunt me!!
I have turned them in to BBB twice.......and they responded 'relatively fast' after that. Don't even order their products (paper/ink) unless you want another bad experience..........that sucked too!!! (and was one BBB report)
DELL PRODUCTS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome back!

Dell products are good - only if you're a computer technician programmer who knows how to fix any kind of computer LOL
Recently my friend had a mishap with his laptop from Dell...had to be replaced with a higher model which meant it was an upgrade that he did not agree to which meant he has to pay it regardless. WTF?! So....needless to say he's not happy.
I think Dell has gone down in terms of customer service and turned to - pardon for the vulgar term here - but they've turned into a customer raping company. They continually overtake from you and never plan to give anything in return and if they do give, its always something that guarantees them more income.
Which is more important...being a brand name you can trust or having the all mighty dollar that will soon stop when people figure out you're a fraud?
Argh...sorry about the rant
I'm sure there's something good about Dell...I just haven't heard anything...ever of the sort.
