news of a 'new bug' threatening to spread like wildfires....
have you heard about the latest 'bug' that is supposed to inflict us all here in the very near future ...? it's been all over the news ....the media can't wait for the outbreak....so they have more to drive us crazy with....it's been named:
'the urge to splurge bug'.... and they say it is coming for all of us...and we can no longer hide....we have been hunckered down in our homes with our purses and wallets shut tight and hidden away out of sight.....but noone is immune from it and it will get to you eventually coz one can only refrain for so long before they go beserk and begin running through the malls and stores grabbing items to purchase....they are already seeing 'isolated incidents' (hence, the consumer spending up since last quarter)....and when the dam breaks it will be chaos .... so they say.....
hm.....what about you....are you well-protected in the event this bug comes your way...? will you be able to ward off the infliction and be one of the few that don't become infected...???? protect yourself now....consider yourself to have been warned......

“After the last tree has been cut down, after the last river has been poisoned, after the last fish has been caught.
Only then will you find that money can't be eaten.”

I am immunized and well protected. I will NOT spend, splurge, shop, etc. I will get out of debt! I ALMOST have the hospital paid off and then we can focus on the Harley.
I am in the process of selling my mother's house to my brother. The contract is drawn up and a copy has been given to the mortgage company (brother has been preapproved) and a copy to title company. I will hear from the title company late this week or early this week on what additional paperwork they need.
Then I have to decide what to do with my share of the house proceeds (split 4 ways). I will definitely have enough to pay off the Harley and put some in savings. We have been paying extra on the mortgage from the beginning (2+ years ago).
I will not shop, splurge, spend. I will not shop, splurge, spend.Mary
I won 2nd place! Made it to the top 4 finalists for the ultimate biker makeover!

I will be immune because I HATE SHOPPING!
I think I receive a vaccination against this "bug" every time I
open a CC bill and look at my balance.
I've been hunkering down long before I found FV. In fact, if
I didn't have to work, I would very rarely leave the house.
The last time I went to the mall, which I hate, but had to get
a gift certificate, I couldn't find my car when I left. It was
POURING down rain. I was walking out in the rain looking for
my car and had to get a security guard to help me find it...lol
I was SURE I went out the same door I came in because there
was a sports shop there. How was I too know there were 2
sports shops in the mall??? lol I thought I was doing good
just to know where the mall was!
Yep, I think I am safe. Shopping is not my forte. You have succeeded in life when all you really want is only what you really need.

My budget is the same regardless of their silly articles. We have one in college and one in 2 years. Splurging on food, tuition and bill paying how about that?

It won't happen in this household.
Time we pay the bills, put gas in the trucks, and buy a few groceries, there is hardly anything left.
Unless they want to count, buying parts for a tune up and labor, for his 4 wheeler so he can use that for hunting this fall. It quit in the creek the other day and had to be pulled out by a tractor.
My regular computer is now at the computer doc getting fixed. And my old computer that I am on now, just hic-cupped this morning, and is in safe mode. So I can use it, but it will have to go to the computer place when I get the other one back.
I have to find cash in the budget somewhere, because we don't have any credit cards, and I refuse to get one. Made it 18 yrs without one so far. We do have a debit/credit card now but it is attached to the checking account and is our OWN money we use. Safer than carry cash around.
So no shopping sprees planned here...nope, nope, nope.--------My signature--------

I have to admit that it has bitten me. I am so tempted by all the great sales and good deals that stores are using to get people to buy in this slow economy.

I refuse to get bit by this bug. I am already groaning about having to go Christmas shopping except for my 3 grandchildren. I have worked hard enough and don't feel like filling the stinking corporations pockets. It will be a frugal Christmas in this house and as far as other spending it ain't goin to happen. I hate to shop.

I definitely need to be vaccinated!!
I'm getting at that stage in paying off debt that I'm starting to feel a little too good about what I've done so far rather than what I still need to do. And I admit, I am a huge sucker for Christmas!
Thanks for the post! I'm going to try to burn this into the back of my brain to help me keep my head on straight for the holidays!
