Sometimes I am just so smart!

and sometimes not LOL. Today is one of those smart days. I have been craving my grandma's potato salad and I decided last week that I would make some for me and ds today. I was on my way out to the store for cat food today and thinking about dinner. I thought I should make dh and dd some macaroni salad since they don't like potato. I put macaroni, cucumbers, tomatoes and onions in mine. I thought " oh no! I have everything but tomatoes!" Then I remembered that I had leftover tossed salad from the weekend with tomatoes in it! We had it for dinner Saturday and Sunday night and everyone was tired of it. I was going to eat it for lunch today to keep it from going to waste.

So I made the mac salad and just took the tomatoes out of the other salad and chopped them into the mac salad. Then I realized I had cukes in there too so I used them too! Saved my other cukes for another meal! I still have tossed salad to eat for lunch today too! We are having hamburgers to go with the salads and it's a nice, easy supper!

Don't you love when frugal just comes together because we think things through and use what we already have and make do with that??? I'm finally learning better how to do that too.

Way to go and nothing to waste !!!! I have a bad habbit of buying veggies, putting them in a fridge bin and forgetting they are there. What a waste. Working to correct it.

I have even used the lettuce from the salad on the hamburger rather that a leaf.
